Only top 14 players were paid out in this event, with several big names like two-time bracelet winner Maxx Coleman (14th – $102,299), four-time bracelet winner Phil Hui (13th – $102,299), five-time bracelet winner and three-time champion of this event Michael Mizrachi (12th – $102,299), two-time bracelet winner James Obst (11th – $113,028), three-time bracelet winner Joao Vieira (9th – $130,943), and bracelet winner Johannes Becker (8th – $130,943) all fall before the final table of the tournament.

Poker legend Phil Ivey was the first casualty from the final table, earning $158,719 for his seventh place finish. The 11-time bracelet winner was busted when his 9-7-6-5-4 ran into the 8-7-6-5-3 of Dylan Smith in no-limit deuce-to-seven single draw. He was followed by six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmus who got chopped up by two-time bracelet winner Chris Brewer and David Benyamine in Omaha eight-or-better, pocketing an impressive $200,896 for his efforts.

The final day began with Brewer in the lead and Negreanu being second in chips. The first two eliminations came quickly. Bracelet winner David Benyamine’s 9-8-5-3-2 was outrun by the 9-8-4-3-2 of two-time bracelet winner Bryce Yockey in deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball. Benyamine from France took home $265,054 as the fifth-place finisher. Dylan Smith was the next player to fall. He also ran into Yockey, who made a 7-5-4-2-A in razz, sending Smith to the rail in fourth place ($363,914).

The action slowed down during three-handed play, with Chris Brewer remaining as the short stack for the most of time. He eventually shoved with Ah Ac on a 10h 5s 3s facing Js Js of Yockey. The turn brought the 7s to give Yockey a flush to win the hand. Brewer took home $519,158 as the third-place finisher.

Heads-up saw Yockey holding 15,750,000 to Negreanu’s 10,950,000. The two battled for over three hours before Negreanu got trips and doubled into the lead. On the final hand, Negreanu raised to 750,000 with Ad Qs Jc 7s and Yockey made the call with 9c 6s 3s 2c from the big blind position. The flop 10c 7c 7h saw Negreanu bet 600,000. Yockey check-raised to 3,550,000 and Negreanu moved all-in. Yockey called for his remaining 6,100,000. Negreanu had trips, while Yockey had flush and straight draws. The Qh on the turn gave Negreanu a full house, leaving Yockey drawing dead. He had to settle in second place for $768,467, his largest career score.
