William O. Perkins III, aka Bill Perkins, was born on February 2, 1969 in Houston, Texas. His father, William Osborne Perkins II, was a politician, criminal defense attorney, and football player. After graduating high school, he studied Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Iowa. Even though he had a degree in Electronics Engineering, he never wanted to be an engineer.

Perkins later got inspired by the popular movie Wall Street and wanted a career in finance. He started working as a clerk at 4 World Trade Center. He was making less money than others, but it helped him get experience. He later got a big opportunity as an energy trader and started working for his friend John D. Arnold’s new hedge fund, Centaurs Energy, in 2002, as per reports, he made $1 billion in trading for the firm. Centaurs Energy’s success only lasted for a few years, as it shut down in 2012 due to low natural gas prices.
Perkins didn’t stop at the time and founded Skylar Capital and ventured into hedge funds. His expertise and knowledge about the energy market helped him generate money for his clients. He even produced several Hollywood films, including Unthinkable (2010), After Life (2009), and many more.
Perkins then wrote “Die With Zero: Getting All You Can from Your Money and Your Life”, which gained significant popularity, and became a best-selling book due to Perkins’ unique approach to financial planning and life optimization.

He has a big bankroll, so he doesn’t fear losing in poker matches. He started playing poker much earlier, as he used to play private poker matches, before participating in live poker tournaments. He is also a good friend of Dan Bilzerian, and they have played a couple of private poker matches together.

Perkins participated in the EPT 2014 and played in the £48,500 + 1,500 NLH Super High Roller, where he got eliminated in 4th place for €290,100 (~USD 470k)
Perkins’ next biggest-ever live earnings came in 2019. Perkins participated in Triton Series London and played the £1,050,000 NLH event, where he was eliminated in 6th place for £2,200,000 (~2 Million).
