Alexander Wong Tirumphs In the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event

After nearly 14 hours of intense action, Canadian poker player Alexander Wong wins the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour $1,100 Main Event, as well as the trophy. The player also took the lion’s share of $89,544 from the guaranteed prize pool of $536,995. This was Wong’s biggest tournament win after winning $49,335 in the 49th WSOP $10k NLH Main Event. 

Wong not only won a significant amount of money but also made his mark in the Global Poker rank. After winning the MSPT Main Event, Wong moved into 360th place in the 2024 Player of the Year race.

The $1,100 Main Event of the Mid-Stakes Poker Tour was held at the popular Venetian Casino, in Las Vegas. The main event attracted a field of 543 players, taking the guaranteed prize pool to $536,995. Out of 543 players, only 61 players are able to last until the final day. 

Wong entered the final table as the second chip lead, with Lucas Tae being the Chip Leader. 

WSOP Bracelet winner Tamas Lendvai was the first player to be eliminated due to a short chip stack. Lendvai was eliminated in 9th place for $10,794. 

This was followed by Euan McNicholas, who was eliminated in 8th place and walked with a payout worth $13,493. Michael Holtz was eliminated in 7th place, earning $17,073. Boris Shakmurov was eliminated in 6th place, earning $21,860 for his deep run.

Lucas Tae, who was the chip leader, lost significant chips by Level 26, while Wong took the chip lead. Tae was soon eliminated in 5th place, taking home $28,323. 

Nicholas Wang eliminated Robert Shulz in 4th place for $31,1215. In the three-handed battle, Thien Tran went all-in against Wong with pocket fours, but his pocket fours were no match for Wong’s pocket aces.  Wong sends him out in 3rd place for $49,227.

The final battle between Nicholas Wang and Alexander Wong was intense, as we see both of them taking chip lead. Just after the break, Nicholas Wang went all-in with K-6 against Alexander Wong’s A-J. The community cards were revealed to be Q-10-9-K-J giving Wong an ace-high straight for the win. Wang ended up as the runner-up taking home $66,019.
