Henrik Juncker conquers the Paris poker scene in style! After his arrival in Paris on Sunday, the Danish pro made his way to the PokerStars European Poker Tour Paris. He decided to jump straight into Day 1b of the €2,200 France Poker Series (FPS) High Roller and the decision paid off handsomely, with Juncker winning the marquee tournament for a career-best €544,790 and his first live title of 2024. Overall, this was his second major live title and took his live tournament earnings to a whopping $868,689.

The €2,200  buy-in High Roller event attracted 1,794 entries over two starting flights, surpassing the previous year’s record of 910 and generating a €3,444,480 prize pool. Only 268 players advanced to Day 2. Play was stopped on Day 2, leaving four players left to come back for an unscheduled Day 3 and battle for the top prize of €544,790. Juncker started the final day with more than half of the chips in play and took a little over an hour to knock out his opponents to win his first PokerStars trophy.

Short stack Guillermo Gordo started Day 3 with just five bigs but quickly doubled up twice against Juncker. Despite the setbacks, Juncker swiftly recovered, eliminating Omar Del Pino in fourth place. He held pocket nines against the A-Q of Pino and improved to a set to win the pot and extend his chip lead into the three-handed play. He further extended his advantage by knocking out Guillermo Gordo who ran his K-9 into Juncker’s A-9. The board ran out Ace-high, ending Gordo’s run in third place.

Juncker started the heads-up with more than a 6:1 chip lead over PokerStars Ambassador Parker Talbot. Despite a quick double with Big Slick, the Canadian streamer could not go all the way, eventually ending his run in second place for €334,180. On the final hand, Talbot on the button called a raise from Juncker with his Ac 3c. Talbot then announced all in and Juncker called with a superior Ah Jc. The board ran out 10d 5s Qc 4h Jd, giving Juncker his first PokerStars trophy and ending Talbot’s run in second place.

Team India: Jeevan Lobo, Ankit Ahuja and Abhinav Iyer Score

The tournament generated a whopping €3,448,320 in prize pool and paid out the top 268 players. Portugal’s Silvio Domingues Costa was the first player to finish in the money, walking away with €3,340. There were several notable pros cashing in the event on Day 2, including three Indian contenders, Jeevan Lobo (147th for €4,440), POY India 2023 winner Ankit Ahuja (191st for €3,860), and WSOP bracelet Abhinav Iyer (228th for €3,340). This marked Ahuja’s second cash of the ongoing series, following his fourth-place finish in the €1,100 No Limit Hold’em event.
