Originally from California, Sengphet created a formidable place in the American poker landscape with her impressive performance and victories. There is little information available about Sengphet’s early life and her childhood, but she has been in the game for over two decades.
La Sengphet’s Poker Career and Winnings
Before her first recorded live cash win in 2006, Sengphet, like any other player, prioritized cash games. Her first cash was $6,672 after she finished 23rd on the 37th WSOP $1k Ladies’ NLH Event. After very few cashes on tournaments, she made an impressive runner-up finish in the 2009 DeepStack Extravaganza III $300 NLH for an impressive $31,370 cash.
She followed it up by winning her first live poker title, taking down the 2009 Mega Stack Series $300 NLH for $11,779. The next year, Sengphet finished 7th in the 41st WSOP Ladies Championship, banking $22,728. In 2011, she took down the WSOP Circuit Tunica $555 NLH, securing her career first circuit ring and a $32,394 payout.
That wasn’t her only circuit ring, as she collected another two circuit rings at the WSOPC St. Louis and WSOPC Caesars Palace, winning the $345 NLH and $240 NLH Ladies, earning nearly $25k. She then went on to finish 4th on the 2011 WSOP National Championship, earning her first six-figure score of $100k.
She then started 2012 by taking down the WSOP Circuit Bicycle Casino $300 NLH, for her career fourth circuit ring and a cash prize of $25,242. Besides the cash prize, La Sengphet also became the first woman in poker history to win three open tournaments at the WSOP Circuit.
In 2013, she took down the 2013 Carnivale of Poker $365 NLH for $13,905. Her next victory came in 2014, after she won the 2014 Card Player Poker Tour $400 NLH, banking $32,532.
From 2015, Sengphet began focusing more on cash games with very few tournament cashes. She became a regular in poker tournaments from 2020 with her runner-up finish in the WSOP Circuit Choctaw $400 NLH Monster Stack for $23,338.
Her next big score came in 2021, when she finished as the runner-up in the One MILLION GTD $900 NLH at the Texas Card House for a career-best $259,370 top prize. The following year, she also won the WSOP Circuit Aruba $200 NLH Ladies for her fifth career circuit ring and a top prize of $2,886.
The next year in 2022, she won her career sixth circuit ring, winning the WSOP International Circuit Caribbean $400 NLH Black Chip Bounty for $15,000. She also made a podium finish in the Circuit Main Event for a $42k payday. The same year, she finished 5th in the WPT World Championship $600 NLH, earning $61,222.
In 2023, Sengphet emerged victorious in the WSOP Circuit $250 NLH Ladies Event for $81,163, bringing her career circuit ring count to seven.
The following year, she won the Texas Card House Colinas Grand Opening $400 NLH, adding $70k to her career earnings. Her recent big score came in 2025 after finishing 6th in the WSOP Circuit Bay Area $400 NLH Mystery Bounty for $7,090.
