The Poker Hall of Famer, Daniel Negreanu, has shared a Youtube Video revealing his results from 2023. In the 23 minute video, he has called 2023 the“worst year” of his poker career as the year saw him lose over $2.2 Million.

Going into 2024, Negreanu plans to make some adjustments to his strategy. According to him, he will play fewer tournaments and only when he feels like playing. “I can increase my focus on what matters, and that’s going to be the bottom line in 2024,” said Negreanu.

Many in the poker community are curious to know what went wrong for Kid Poker in 2023. Well, the GGPoker Ambassador usually plays the WSOP and PokerGO Tour high rollers. Those who have been following his WSOP vlogs must be knowing that he has lost nearly $1.9 million over the past two years at the World Series of Poker. Also, he was seen struggling in the PokerGO Tour events during 2023.

2023 saw Negreanu playing a record 145 tournaments, the most in a single year over the past ten years of his career, according to him. However, this increase in volume of tournament participation did not translate into success with Negreanu cashing in over 27% of these tournaments.

Playing too many tournaments was one of the reasons for his $2.2 Million deficit in 2023. “Just by sheer numbers, I was playing far too often,” said Negreanu hinting at his unprecedented volume.

The Canadian pro also hinted at making a couple of side bets on PokerGO Tour points and running bad in tournaments and crucial all-in spots. Another big reason for his $2.2 million deficit in the past year was his inability to secure a massive score to ladder up. His biggest score of 2023 was $200,000, which came in a $100,000 buy-in heads-up match against Doug Polk on PokerGO’s High Stakes Duel IV.

While Kid Poker finished 2022 with a $1.6 million profit, his best year over the past decade was 2014 when he scooped a career-best $8.3 million cash in the $1 million buy-in WSOP Big One for One Drop. As Negreanu decides to make some adjustments to his game, we hope to see him fare well in 2024.
