Aria Poker Room has recently been nominated for the “Best Poker Room” category at the Global Poker Award. The room has been the hub of high-octane poker action since its inception in 2009 and has been an integral part in the growth of poker. Serving as the home of PokerGo Studio, Aria Poker Room is currently one of the best poker rooms in the USA.
In this report we will delve into the history of ARIA Las Vegas, its amenities, why people love it, and its partnership with PokerGo Studio.
Aria Las Vegas History
Aria Resort and Casino opened in 2009 as part of the $9 billion City Center Project. The casino was a joint venture between MGM Resorts International and Dubai World. Aria stood now as one of the premium poker locations in the Las Vegas Strip, but it nearly pushed MGM to bankruptcy in 2009.
Construction on Aria began in 2006, just before the Great Recession. By spring 2009, MGM faced a potential shutdown as it struggled to renegotiate repayment terms with lenders. However, a crucial payment allowed the company to complete construction and open the resort later that year and has since been operating the elite casino.
In 2021, MGM acquired Dubai World’s ownership stake in Aria. That same year, MGM sold Aria to The Blackstone Group for $3.89 billion in cash and leased them back for an annual rent of $215 million.
The Home of PokerGo Studio
In 2018 Poker Central (now PGT) opened its PokerGo Studio at Aria Resort & Casino, dedicated to hosting live poker events. The 10,000-square-foot studio soon became the exclusive home for premier tournaments such as the Super High Roller Bowl, Poker Masters, U.S. Poker Open, Poker After Dark, and many more.
The luxurious venue features nine poker tables, multiple sound stages, a main studio, a streaming lounge, and seating for over 100 spectators. Since its inception, PokerGo has become an integral part of Aria, elevating the casino further.
Aria Resort and Casino Amenities and History
Aria’s poker room houses over 24 tables and has been a hub for high rollers since its opening. The poker room is filled with leather chairs and grandiose lighting fixtures, and gives a feeling of luxury compared to any other room. In May 2010, the exclusive Ivey Room—later renamed Table 1 in 2019—was introduced as a high-limit space catering to elite players.
Aria has also played a pivotal role in poker history, hosting numerous World Poker Tour (WPT) events, including the inaugural WPT500 in 2014 and major tournaments like the WPT Bobby Baldwin Classic and the WPT Tournament of Champions.
Why is Aria Las Vegas the Best Poker Room in the USA?
ARIA has always been part of poker conversations among live poker enthusiasts, and according to a post on r/poker, Aria has always been a favorite of pros due to its ambiance and luxury.
As per the comment on the post, Aria is not the best room in Las Vegas but it arguably has the highest floor of any Vegas casino.
