Jim Collopy Makes Waves With Epic Back-to-Back WPT Victories

2024 has been a historic year for poker with several record-breaking events and wins on the live felts. From WSOP to WPT and EPT, the world’s leading live poker brands raised the stakes with record-breaking tournaments and unprecedented prize pools, leaving an indelible mark on the game’s history. One live poker festival that etched its name in history was the 2024 World Poker Tour World Championship, which stood out in terms of unprecedented giveaways, huge prize pools and record turnouts. The marquee main event of the series concluded on Saturday, with Scott Stewart winning it for a life-changing $2.6 million prize, plus a seat in next year’s championship. While Stewart stole the show as a WPT world champion for 2024, several other players made their mark. One of them was Jim Collopy, a well-known poker pro from the United States, who made waves by winning two back-to-back titles in the series.

Collopy made a late surge at the World Poker Tour World Championship, going back-to-back to win the WPTWC $10,500 PLO and the WPTWC $10,500 NLH Eight Max events during the final days of the prestigious series.  

WPT World Championship $10,500 Pot-Limit Omaha

The last few days of this WPT series had three $10,000 buy-in events. One of these events, the $10,000 NLH Seniors, was won by Keith Lehr, while the other two events were won by three-time bracelet winner Jim Collopy

Collopy first came out on top of a field of 84 entries in the $10,500 pot-limit Omaha event on December 20, earning a hefty $209,628 from the total $840,000 prize pool, which was finally shared by the top 11 players.

On his way to victory, Collopy overcame a star-studded final table featuring bracelet winner Giuseppe Pantaleo (8th), two-time bracelet winner John Riordan (6th), and two-time bracelet winner Joao Simao (runner-up).

WPT World Championship $10,500 No-Limit Hold’em Eight Max

The day after his victory in the PLO event, Collopy then topped a field of 105 entries in the $10,500 no-limit hold ’em eight-max event, claiming   $298,147 from a $1,050,000 prize pool, which was shared by the top 13 players. The latest win marked his sixth title and 26th final table of 2024.

After the latest victories at the WPT World Championship, Collopy is now ranked 67th in the USA’s All-Time Money list and has over $10.5 million in live tournament earnings, placing him among the poker elites in the world.
