Things are heating up in the Asian Poker Circuit with several massive GTD festivals taking place in the region. Following the conclusion of the record-breaking APT Manila where several women shone brightly including Russia’s Natalia Rozova, women continue to make waves at the other stops in Asia. One of the biggest stories coming from the Jeju Poker Festival 2024, which kicked off on November 15 at the Landing Casino with the World Poker Tour (WPT) Korea. The festival has crowned over sixteen winners so far, with Taiwan’s Lin Meng Ling being the biggest female winner at the ongoing WPT series so far.
Event 7: WPT High Roller Recap
Mengling Lin overcame a tough field of 45 entrants in Event 7: WPT High Roller, claiming a massive KRW 80,910,000 ($57,811) following a heads-up deal with China’s Yu Yunchao, who took home the higher payout of KRW 102,000,000 ($72,881). This marked Lin’s second WPT title this year, following her Single Day High Roller win at the WPT Korea in April where she had bagged $ 128,937, her best live score to date.
Featuring KRW 8,000,000 ($5,720) buy-in, this high roller tournament ran over the course of two days from November 16-17 and generated KRW 323,010,000 ($231,015) in prize pool. The top seven players made the money, with the final two securing the lion’s share of the prize pool.
Fresh off her fourth-place finish in Event 1: WPT Opener, Mengling Lin, who was the only lady among the final 7 players in #7 WPT High Roller event, entered the final day among the top stacks. She displayed her determination to take home the championship ring and it eventually paid off as she closed it out with a win after over an eleven hours of intense grind. She eventually struck an ICM deal with runner up Yunchao Yu, who banked a larger cut off the KRW 323,010,000 ($231,015) prize pool.
