The selection for the Women in Poker Hall of Fame (WiPHoF) is completed by narrowing down the 52 women for the public nomination process. The WiPHoF has announced Kristen Foxen and Jeanne David as members of WiPHoF in the class of 2024 on their X handle. Their induction ceremony will be held next month along with the first pioneer inductee and trailblazer, Starla Brodie.
The public nomination started for the class of 2024 in September. Over 1200 votes were cast from the poker community including the votes of Hall members. Eight exceptional women headlined the ballot, including Foxen and David along with the likes of Liv Boeree, Jamie Kerstetter, Kara Scott, Rebecca McAdam Willetts, Annette Obrestad, and Jennifer Shahade. In the end, the spotlight fell on Foxen and David as they were selected and inducted into the coveted Women in Poker Hall of Fame for 2024 for their significant contribution to the game.
Kristen Bicknell Foxen
Kristen Bicknell Foxen is a Canadian-born professional poker player with over $8 million live earnings. She is one of the most decorated women in poker with 5 WSOP bracelets to her name. She earned her 5th WSOP Bracelet a couple of weeks ago by winning the 2024 WSOP Online Bracelet Event #19 – NL Hold’em 6-Max.
Foxen hit Supernova Elite on Poker Stars in 2011, 2012, and 2013 and won her first WSOP Bracelet at WSOP Women’s event in 2013. Since then, she has added three online bracelets across the international and US platforms. Notably, she is a wife of popular player Alex Foxen, who recently made headlines for winning the $50K NLH 8-Handed at the ongoing Triton Poker Super High Roller series in Monte Carlo.
Jeanne David
Jeanne David, a resident of Las Vegas is a popular name in poker and well known in the local card rooms and mid-rang circuit. Additionally, she is also a member of PokerOrg’s Player Advisory Board and plays a crucial role as the Responsible Gaming Manager with PokerStars. David has done her Masters in Social Work and with these skills, she helps players to get rid of addiction and improve their well-being over the long term.
Jeanne Devid has contributed to legalizing online poker throughout the United States and Europe. She worked for the establishment and execution of regulations in online poker in Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Nevada. She also enjoyed plenty of success at the poker table and 2024 is turning out to be a breakout year for her with already four live poker titles and several podium finishes under her belt.
Pioneer Induction: Date, Time And Venue
Foxen and Devid will be joined as honorees by Starla Brodie, the first posthumous Pioneer Inductee into the women in poker hall of fame. Brodie was the first woman to win the open-field at the WSOP, teaming up with Doyle Brunson in 1979 to win the Mixed Doubles Event. She got her second bracelet in 1995 in the Women Seven Card Stud tournament and became the trailblazers to success at the highest levels.
All three women will be honored in the induction ceremony on December 11th, 2024 at 11 AM at the Plaza Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Keep following PokerProNews for more updates!
