The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Lake Tahoe has officially concluded, with online poker pro and two-time online bracelet winner Evan Sandberg adding a live circuit ring to his achievements by winning the $1,700 Main Event. Sandberg not only took home the gold ring, but also a payout of $133,841.

“It feels quite amazing, especially because Lake Tahoe is probably my favorite place to travel for poker, which I can only do once a year. I live in Vegas and I go to Thunder Valley sometimes, but this is the number one spot I’d like to win at, so it makes it extra special.”- said the champion.

The $1,700 buy-in Main Event ran from November 1st to November 4th and drew 439 entrants across two starting flights, building a total prize pool of $665,085. From the impressive 439 entrants, the top 48 players claimed their share of the six-figure prize pool.

The final table was formed on Day 2, as the 48-player field narrowed to the final nine in just six hours. After some quick action, the final nine quickly became the final six, who advanced to Day 3 to crown a champion. Here is a recap of the final table.

Evan Sandberg entered Day 2 in the middle of the pack but played some top-notch poker to chip up. When the final table narrowed to six, Sandberg was fourth in chips, while online WSOP bracelet winner Dann Turner led the final five.

Short-stacked Travis Stenerson was the first casualty of Day 3. Unable to overcome his low stack, Stenerson went all-in with K♦6♣. Sandberg called with K♣8♠, and his hand held up, climbing up the ladder and knocking out Stenerson in 6th place for $21,001.

Michael Pearson soon followed Stenerson to the rail in 5th place, earning $28,921. Pearson moved all-in holding pocket aces, only to encounter the straight of James Czarnecki. Czarnecki scored another elimination, sending Brett Murray to 4th place with $40,871 in prize money.

Despite holding a big stack at the start, Dann Turner couldn’t maintain momentum. He became short-stacked and lost his remaining stack to Sandberg, exiting in 3rd place for $59,232.

Heading into heads-up play, Sandberg and Czarnecki held almost even stacks. However, Czarnecki took an early lead, which didn’t last long, as Sandberg soon turned the tables. Sandberg cracked Czarnecki’s ace-queen to take the lead and quickly extended his chip advantage.

In the final hand, Sandberg open-raised, and Czarnecki called to see the flop. The flop came K♥J♥10♣, and Czarnecki check-called a bet from Sandberg. The 2♣ came on the turn, and Czarnecki again checked and called a big bet from Sandberg. The river brought the 2♠, and after checking once more, Czarnecki faced an all-in from Sandberg.

Sandberg revealed A♦Q♠, flopping a straight, while Czarnecki showed his K♣8♥. Evan Sandberg was crowned the 2024 WSOP Circuit Lake Tahoe Main Event Champion, earning a staggering $133,841. James Czarnecki, meanwhile, secured a runner-up finish, earning $87,977.
