APT Manila: Leon Menezes Shines for India, Captures His First APT Title in Omaholic

Currently in the spotlight is India’s Leon Menezes, who has just captured his first APT title by winning Event #75: Omaholic at the ongoing Asian Poker Tour (APT) Manila.  Menezes’s victory in this popular Omaha format bagged him PHP 104,555 ($1,778).  He bested a field of 46 entries and overcame Japan’s Masataka Morishita in the heads-up battle to win the coveted title. Morishita took home PHP 73,000 (~$1,240) for his deep run. Philippines’ Joshua Cordova took the final spot on the podium, finishing third for PHP 47,000 ($ 799).

 Menezes is a semi-professional poker player with several online cashes and an online title to his name. The victory marks his first major live cash, securing him not only a place in poker history but also providing him a massive confidence boost.
