Norway’s Kayhan Mokri is the latest big winner at the ongoing Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Monte Carlo. He overcame a star-studded field of 144 entries in Event 2: $30k NLH 8-Handed, the second tournament on the 14-event schedule.
Mokri is no stranger to big wins. The latest victory marked his fourth live title of 2024 and took his live earnings to $7.9 million. He started the year with a victory in the €19,208 + 792 No Limit Hold’em (Event #12) at EPT Barcelona and followed that up with the 2024 EPT Barcelona €100,000 Super High Roller win for €1,372,420. Last month, he took down the $25,000 No Limit Hold’em (Event #35) at EPT Cyprus, winning $ 390,200 in top prize money. Now two years after his Triton debut, he has won his first Triton trophy after outlasting Paulius Vaitiekunas (runner-up for $680,000) in heads-up play.
Talking about his latest victory, Mokri said, “Today was my day, it’s a momentum thing. I had the best cards today and that’s how it is. I finally won one. Now I can relax a bit more.”

Final Table Action
The final table action was fast and furious with eliminations coming quickly. Mokri started the final table as the shortest stack but played some top-notch poker, taking out seven of his opponents on the path to victory. Mokri got off to a great start, picking up some early pots to survive. He scored the first elimination by busting China’s Zhou Quan in 9th place. He held A-Q which held against A-K.
A little later, Dimitar Danchev fell in eighth, and he was quickly followed by fellow Bulgarian Krasimir Neychev who exited in seventh place.
Marius Kudzmanas was eliminated in sixth place, and fifth-place belonged to recent Poker Hall of Fame inductee Patrik Antonius, whose pocket fives lost to Mokri’s ace-queen. The Monaco resident walked away with $298,000 for his deep run in the tournament.
Mokri continued to dominate and took out Orpen Kisacikoglu in fourth, and Alex Kulev in third place to take a 2:1 chip advantage into the heads-up against Paulius Vaitiekunas. The heads-up did not last long with Mokri winning both of the major hands in the heads-up battle to seal the deal.
On the final hand, Vaitiekunas limped with 5h 4d and Mokri checked his option with 6d 3h. The flop came down 6s 5d 3d. Mokri checked, Vaitiekunas bet 500k, and Mokri raised to 2.2 million. Vaitiekunas then moved all-in for his remaining 10 million stack, and Mokri called. The turn Kd and river Qd ended it all, crowning champion in Mokri. However, it wasn’t all bad for Vaitiekunas as he banked an impressive $680,000 to take his live tournament earnings to over $3.8 million.
