The 2024 PokerStars United Kingdom & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) London has concluded its thrilling run at the iconic Hippodrome Casino, crowning 13 champions. The biggest highlight of the series was  the £1,100 Main Event, which drew an impressive 725 entries for a prize pool worth $889,906. The top 108 finishers earned a share of that money and the final day saw only 13 players return to the felts. Following a marathon 12 hours of action, Italy’s Gaspare Sposato emerged as the champion and took home £107,660 following a heads-up deal with Bulgaria’s Atanas Pavlov (second for £99,340).

This victory marked Gaspare Sposato’s career high-score and his first live poker title. Apart from the main event win, the Italian pro also cashed UKIPT High Roller (Event #12), earning $ 4,709 for his 17th place finish.

Sposato, who only began to record results at brick-and-mortar events in 2022, said, “I was only playing for the trophy. I was really close last year in Paris but I lost heads-up, and many times tonight I thought the same thing was going to happen again. But this trophy is a present for my wife, it was her birthday yesterday. It’s a great moment to be all together with friends and enjoy it.”

This event ran from August 4-11 and the final day began with Sposato leading the remaining two tables. He battled his way down to heads-up where he finally agreed to a heads-up deal with Pavlov. Both players battled it out for several levels before Sposato pitted his pocket sevens against the A-8 of Pavlov in the final hand. The pocket pair remained best by the river and Pavlov was eliminated in second place.
