The series introduces new poker players to the global stage every year, wherein these players can battle some of the biggest pros and come out victorious. Following the same trend, the ongoing WSOP 2024 recently gave the poker world one such poker gem in the form of Malcolm Trayner. 

Malcolm Trayner Wins His First Bracelet At WSOP 2024

Malcolm Trayner recently claimed his first-ever WSOP bracelet. He took down Event #5: $1,000 Mystery Millions for a staggering top prize of $1,000,000. The Australian player emerged victorious after beating a monstrous entry field of 18,409 entries. This was his second live title of 2024 as he had won his first title of the year in March by winning A$ 5,000 No Limit Hold’em – The Titan at 2024 Australian Poker Open, Sydney for $ 38,905.

The 24-year-old finally beat America’s Carson Richards in an entertaining heads-up duel. Carson Richard took home $536,080 for his runner-up finish. Mystery Millions Event recorded the biggest entry field yet at 2024 WSOP. With 18,409 entries registering for the event, it created a huge prize pool of $16,199,920. 

The overjoyed 24-year-old was short of words at his victory. He said, “A bit of mix, everything. Lots of excitement. Overwhelmed. I just can’t believe what’s happened. A lot of happiness as well.”

Poker journey 

Malcolm Trayner Hendon Mob data shows that the young pro has been playing live poker in Australia since 2018. He started playing the prestigious World Series of Poker online in 2020. Ever since he had been grinding and cashing at the WSOP regularly until 2022.

He did not record any WSOP cash in 2023, however, he arrived in Las Vegas to play live at the WSOP for the first time. Interestingly, his first WSOP bracelet also happens to be the first live WSOP cash of his career. This makes his win even sweeter and historic given that not many people can say they hold a bracelet after just playing just one WSOP event.

Recent exploits

Malcolm Trayner has been enjoying a great 2024 season so far. Notably, the WSOP title is not the first title this year for the young Australian player. He shipped the No Limit Hold’em – The Titan event at the 2024 Australian Poker Open held in Sydney in March 2024. He pocketed a handsome $ 38,905 for his top-place finish at this event.

Besides he has had two other final table finishes at the Australian series finishing 2nd and 5th. Later, he recorded another final table finish at the PokerStars European Poker Tour presented by Monte-Carlo Casino – EPT Monte Carlo series finishing 4th in the Knockout Freezeout event in April 2024.

Malcolm Trayner Stats 

With his recent and historic WSOP victory, Malcolm Trayner took a huge leap from his previous 170th spot to the 35th spot on Australia’s All-Time Money List. Additionally, he also managed to more than double his lifetime tournament cashes. 

Prior to this win his lifetime earnings from WSOP stood at $151,201 from 24 cashes, which have now become $1,151,201 in 25 cashes. 

His total lifetime earnings have also expanded to $1,505,565 pushing him up the ranks. He currently ranks 1,840th on the All-Time Money list, and 38th on Australia’s All-Time Money list.

Malcolm Trayner’s WSOP victory indeed changed things for him overnight. His years of practice and unwavering passion for the game yielded him results and how. His potential and perseverance demonstrate that this young player will only go upwards and higher from here on, and is one of the most promising rising poker stars to keep an eye on in the years to come.
