2025 Mediterranean Poker Party: Daniel Thaller Emerges As Biggest Winner

The 2025 Mediterranean Poker Party (MPP) has officially concluded. The 11-day event ran from May 3rd to 13th at the luxurious Merit Royal Diamond Hotel Casino & Spa in Kyrenia, Northern Cyprus. It featured a wide range of action-packed tournaments with over $10 million in guaranteed prize pools. The festival was highlighted by five featured events, which featured massive guarantees, including the $5 million GTD MPP Main Event.

Daniel Thaller took down the MPP Main Event, clinching the series’ biggest first-place prize of $786,670 along with the coveted Mediterranean Poker trophy. Besides Thaller, Ivan Bryksin and Gytis Lazauninkas were also among the series’ top winners, each earning staggering payouts.

Daniel Thaller Wins the MPP Main Event for $786,670

Austria’s Daniel Thaller emerged victorious in the Mediterranean Poker Party Main Event, taking home a career-best $786,670 payday and the coveted MPP trophy. The recreational player secured his first-ever live tournament win, pushing his lifetime poker earnings past $1 million.

The $5,300 buy-in Main Event attracted 1,196 entries, crushing the guarantee for a $5,740,800 prize pool. The top 175 finishers received payouts, with the first-place finisher collecting $1 million. 

During three-handed play between Andreas Mavromoustakis, Timothy Chung, and Daniel Thaller, the trio struck an ICM deal, splitting the remaining prize pool while keeping $207,500 and the trophy to play for. 

Thaller, who ultimately secured the win, received $579,170 from the deal and claimed the additional $207,500 and the trophy, for a total payout of $786,670. Timothy Chung exited in third place with $637,250, while Andreas Mavromoustakis walked away with $651,080 as the runner-up.

Ivan Bryksin Ships the MPP Luxon Pay Grand Final

Russia’s Ivan Bryksin topped a field of 1,452 entries to win the 2025 MPP Luxon Pay Grand Final. He earned a career-best $375,000, bringing his total live earnings past the $500,000 mark. 

The $2,200 buy-in Luxon Pay Grand Final featured a $2 million GTD. That was eventually crushed with 1,452 entries creating a $2,787,840 total prize pool, with the top 215 finishers making it into the money. The top four players all secured six-figure payouts. Mr. Perfect finished as runner-up, collecting $250,500, while Lonita Sebastian secured third place for $177,000.

Gytis Lazauninkas Takes Down the MPP Onyx High Roller

Gytis Lazauninkas claimed victory in the $10,400 buy-in Onyx High Roller, marking his first-ever live tournament win and a career-best payout of $227,085. With only $25,000 in previous live earnings, the Lithuanian newcomer boosted his total to over $250,000.

The tournament attracted 149 high-stakes entrants, doubling the $500k GTD for a total prize pool of $1,430,400. Payouts were awarded to the top 23 finishers.

When play reached four-handed, the remaining players agreed to an ICM deal, each securing a six-figure payout. Alessio Isaia, second in chips at the time, earned $226,858 and finished fourth. Yiannis Liperis took third for $216,084, and Nichan Khorchidian exited in second with $189,963. As chip leader, Lazauninkas secured the largest payout and the MPP trophy.

Besides these three top winners, there were other two players who locked up six-figure scores for their victories. Greoire Auzoux won the MPP $10,400 High Roller 6-Handed, taking home $150,000 from the $500k prize pool. Whereas Giogii Shkulukhiia banked $120,000 after winning the $1,100 EAPT Cyprus event at the MPP.
