Masashi Oya is the newest champion at the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise. The Japanese poker pro emerged victorious in Event #9: $100K Ultra High Roller No-Limit Hold’em after outlasting a competitive 111-strong field of seasoned high rollers to claim his first WSOP gold bracelet for a staggering $2.94 Million, which happens to be the best live tournament score of his career.
The final day of the mega high roller event began with 10 players led by Oya. He displayed his skills and determination, ousting three of the last nine players, including Jason Koon, the fourth highest-earning player in poker’s all-time money list, who walked away with a runner-up payout worth $1,817,000.
On the final hand of the tournament, Oya shoved with 10c 6c and Koon called with Qs 6h. The board revealed 9d 7h 5d 8c 4s, giving Oya the higher straight to claim his maiden WSOP gold bracelet.
The victory marked Oya’s ninth WSOP cash, notably his third in this series alone, thus taking his total WSOP earnings to a whopping $3,439,386. As per TheHendonMob, this landmark triumph considerably boosted Oya’s overall live MTT earnings, which now stand at an impressive $5,583,011.
