WSOP 2024: Robert Mizrachi Wins Dealers Choice Championship For His Fifth Bracelet

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 crowned two more champions yesterday. Of the two, Bulgaria’s Simeon Spasov emerged as the biggest winner of the day for winning Event #12: $1,500 6-Handed No-Limit Hold’em for his second WSOP gold bracelet and $439,815, while Robert Mizrachi became a five-time WSOP bracelet winner after shipping Event #13: $10,000 Dealer’s Choice Championship. Mizrachi came out on top of  a field of 124 entries to earn $333,045 and his fifth bracelet. The win saw Mizrachi become the 38th player in history to have won five or more bracelets.

Mizrachi won his first bracelet back in 2007 in the $10,000 pot-limit Omaha championship. His second came in 2014, when he won the first-ever dealer’s choice event. 2015 saw him ship a $1,500 Omaha eight-or-better tournament for his third bracelet. His fourth came in 2016 in the $10,000 stud championship. He is now a five-time WSOP bracelet winner, joining his brother Michael.

WSOP 2024 Event #13: $10K Dealers Choice Championship Recap

Event #13: $10,000 Dealer’s Choice Championship took an extra day, running for four days and collecting $1,153,200 in prize pool, which was finally shared by the top 22 finishers. Plenty of big names cashed, including 3-time bracelet winner David ‘Bakes’ Baler (16th for $21,160), 5-time bracelet winner John Monnette (15th for $21,160), 4-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman (13th for $23,413), 10-time bracelet winner Phil Ivey (11th for $27,041), 6-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu (10th for $27,041), and bracelet winner Max Kruse (9th for $32,543) fall just short of the final table.

This event was scheduled to conclude in just three days, but took an unscheduled fourth day to crown a champion. Richard Bai (6th for $52,985), three-time WSOP bracelet winner David Back (5th for $71,476), and two-time WSOP bracelet winner Ben Lamb (4th for $99,885) all exited on Day 3.

Mizrachi led the final three into the fourth and final day, with Michael Martinelli being not far behind. Bracelet winner Ryutaro Suzuki was the first play to fall. He was left with a short stack after losing a big deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball pot. He shoved his stack in playing pot-limit Omaha eight-or-better with Kd Kc Jc 6d against the As Jd 7c 2h of Martinelli . The board opened Jh 9c 7h 8s 2d, busting the 2023 WSOP $3,000 nine-game event champion Suzuki in third place ($144,431).

Heads-up saw Mizrachi holding  a 2:1 chip lead over Martinelli. The former was able to extend his advantage in the early going. He remained ahead and finally won the title during a round of pot-limit deuce-to-seven triple draw lowball. Martinelli banked $215,848 for his efforts. This is the largest score yet for him, surpassing his $52,200  which he earned for a sixth place in $ 10,000 + 300 H.O.R.S.E. (Event #1) at 2023 PGT Mixed Games, Las Vegas.
