WSOP 2024: Richez, Sanders, and Bolden Capture Gold in Finale Week

The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is now in its grand finale stage with over 92 bracelet events already in the books and several more set to wrap up in the next two days, including the record-breaking Main Event where the 10,112-entry field has whittled down to just 9 players led by Jordan Griff. Meanwhile, several events reached their conclusion and below is a quick look at the results from the three most recent tournaments to crown champions.

Clement Richez Takes Down Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championships ($1,041,989)

Following full four days of action, France’s Clement Richez was crowned the winner of the WSOP 2024 Event #89: $3,000 Mid-Stakes Championships. He overcame a large field of 3,177 entrants and bested Adam Owen in the heads-up a few hours ago, claiming a career-high $1,041,989 and his maiden WSOP bracelet.

The final day began with 17 returning to the felts, with Taylor Black on top with 20.725M chips. The eliminations were quick and the final table was reached within just two hours after the elimination of Stefan Dimitrov in 10th place. He was followed by David Brehme in ninth place. Owen then hit a much-needed river card to bust Boris Kuzmanovic and then eliminated Andrey Pateychuk in seventh place. The next knockout was scored by Richez who busted off the start of the chip leader Taylor Black in sixth place with his ace-king dominating the latter’s ace-queen. Eliminations continued and it came to heads-up when Owen’s Jack-eight beat nine-five of Alec Torelli, who earned $517,525 as third place finisher.

The heads-up belonged to Richez, who was able to chip up and extend his lead by the time the final handarose. On the final hand, Owen jammed all in from the button after Clement Richez raised to 5,500,000. Richez took a couple of moments and made the call with Kh 9h against Qs 3s. The board ran out 7d Kd 6c Jd 10s, giving Richez  the title. Owen had to settle in second place for $694,714.

Team India

A total of 447 finishers were paid out in this event and among them were several Indians, including the WSOP 2024 Event #82: $1,000 No-Limit Hold’em winner Aditya Agarwal, who finished 116th, earning $8,989. This was Agarwal’s third cash. Among other Indians to cash this event were Aditya Systla (214th for $7,032), Ashish Munot (249th for $7,032), Siddarth Singhvi (250th for $7,032), Kunal Patni (255th for $7,032), Avneesh Munjal (329th for $6,006), and Sriharsha Doddapaneni (348th for $6,006).

Joseph Sanders Claims First Bracelet in WSOP 2024 Event 90: $1,500 6-Handed PLO

Following six hours of play on Day 3, Event 90: $1,500 6-Handed Pot-Limit Omaha of the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) crowned a champion in Joseph Sanders. The USA player overcame 1,304 entries and defeated Anatoliy Zlotnikov in a brief heads-up to win $269,530 and his first bracelet.

This marked his largest tournament score, topping the $50,400 he earned for a fifth-place finish in a $10K PLO event at the 2021 U.S. Poker Open. Sanders now has $893,000 in live earnings after the win.

Running over the course of three days, this event generated $1,740,840 in prizepool which was finally shared by the top 196 players. Several big names ran deep, including bracelet winner Pedro Neves (21st – $12,126), bracelet winner Nenad Medic (20th – $12,126), bracelet winner Kyle bowker (14th – $15,317), and World Poker Tour champion and bracelet winner Mike Leah (5th – $63,321).

Team India

Indian players also made a significant mark in this PLO  event. PLO crusher Jagdeep Singh  finished 116th for  $3,230, marking his first cash of the ongoing series. Zarvan Tumboli finished in 125th spot, earning $3,157 for his third cash in the series and taking his series total to $8,162.

Gary Bolden Wins WSOP 2024 Event #91: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. (8-Handed)

After three days of action and a bit of overtime extended to a Day 4, the winner of Event #91: $3,000 H.O.R.S.E. (8-Handed) was crowned in USA’s Gary Bolden who claimed a career-high $206,321 and his first WSOP bracelet after outlasting a field of 357 entries that resulted in a  $953,190 prize pool.

The Las Vegas resident overcame a tough final table, including two-time WSOP bracelet winner John Racener in heads-up battle. Bolden now has career earnings in excess of $1.6 million after the victory.

The top 54 finishers made the money and many big names among them managed to finish deep, including three-time bracelet winner Barry Greenstein (18th – $8,042), two-time bracelet winner Arash Ghaneian (17th – $8,042), six-time bracelet winner Jeremy Ausmsus (7th – $23,952), WPT champion and three-time bracelet winner David ‘ODB’ Baker (6th – $32,274), two-time bracelet winner Luis Velador (5th – $44,591).
