The 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) continued its eventful run at the Horseshoe and Paris Las Vegas, with Day 6 bringing high-octane poker action and crowning two more champions in Nick Guagenti and Bryce Yockey.
Nick Guagenti emerged victorious in Event #9: $1,500 Limit Hold’em (8-Handed) of the series after outlasting a field of 443 challengers, clinching his second career bracelet and a $121,074 payday.
Guagenti’s first bracelet victory came back in 2020, when he championed a $2,000 buy-in no-limit hold’em event during the WSOP Online for $305,433. The Westerville, Ohio native now has two gold bracelets and more than $2.7 million in live tournament earnings to his name.
The tournament generated $591,405, which was finally shared by the top 67 players. Only six players survived to the third and final day of Event #9: $1,500 Limit Hold’em (8-Handed), with Guagenti being in front when play resumed. Bradley Carter was the first to fall in flush-over-flush against two-time bracelet winner Juha Helppi. Up next, Guagenti eliminated short stack Qinghai Pan in fifth place ($26,807), who was followed by Juha Helppi in fourth place ($37,880).
Later, George Chen got it in with pocket queens against the Kd Jd of Guagenti. The board ran out Jc 5s 5h Js 8h, giving Guagenti a winning full house and sending Chen to the rail in third place ($54,708).
Heads-up play began with Guagenti holding a 7:3 chip lead over Brodsky. The heads-up was no short affair and lasted several hours. Guagenti was eventually able to pull away by the time the final hand arrived. Brodsky called all-in from the big blind with 8s 4s and was dominated by Qh 8d that Guagenti had raised from the button. The board opened Ah Qs 6c 7d Jh, sealing the victory for Guagenti .

Bryce Yockey Wins Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha (8-Handed) To Claim Second Bracelet
Over seven years after his first WSOP victory in the $10,000 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo Championship, Bryce Yockey from the United States once again etched his name as the champion. In a thrilling display of skill and determination, he topped a competitive field of 733 entrants in Event #8: $5,000 Pot-Limit Omaha, claiming his second WSOP gold bracelet and a career-best score worth $606,654.
Yockey’s journey to victory was not without hurdles. He faced fierce competition from a talented field of players, including Farid Jattin, who fought well in the heads-up battle before settling for second place and a $404,430 payday.
Heads-up play began with Yockey holding nearly a 4:1 lead over Jattin. The final two battled for a couple of hours, with Jattin making a few pushes to close the gap a little. Yockey was finally able to regain control and win the title. On the final hand,
Jattin raised from the button with Qs 10s 4h 3d and Yockey three-bet, forcing Jattin all-in for 2,375,000 with Ac 10h 8c 6s. The board ran out 5s 3c 2d 8d Jd, giving Yockey a pair of eights to win the title.
