Evan Benton Claims Victory in Event #28: $1,500 Freezeout NLH ($412,484)

Evan Benton was one of 2,317 players to battle it out in the WSOP 2024  Event #28: $1,500 Freezeout No-Limit Hold’em. Prior to victory in this event, the Louisiana resident had just $24,000 in live earnings to his name, with all his previous cashes coming in 2024. “I used to play back then when I was like 12 years old, but I didn’t know anything. About a year and a few months ago, I just played with some friends and I was like, ‘man, this is kind of fun,’ and I just ran with it. I’m obsessed with it now. I play every day and study,” Benton told WSOP reporters.

Despite starting the final table as one of the shortest stacks, he made his way to the chip lead and eventually defeated Balakrishna Patur to win the tournament. On the final hand, Balakrishna Patur ran his 9d 6d into Js 8h and lost the title as the board ran out 3s 8d 7s 7c 3c.
