The player recently made headlines after grabbing his second bracelet at WSOP 2024 for claiming victory in Event #77: $2,500 Big Bet Mix. The Mixed Big Bet Event had five games, which Liu was not very familiar with. Yet, he managed to excel and take the event down. “I’m not very familiar with the other games, but I approach them in my own way. More exploitative and less theory-based,” he said after the win.

He outlasted a formidable field of 468 players, and Liu’s journey was spectacular. In the heads-up, he beat Hye Park, a WSOP circuit ring winner. Notably, Hye Park was also a 2021 WSOP Main Event finalist. Liu began the heads-up with a 2:1 chip lead and secured his victory without a hitch. Hye Park settled at the runner-up spot taking home $136,574 in prize money.

Talking about his victory, Liu said, “Winning in Europe was exhilarating, but Vegas has a special allure. The fields are larger, and this is my first mixed game final table.” His victory marked a triumph for Hong Kong’s burgeoning poker scene as well. Liu added, “It’s already July in the series, and our Hong Kong team hadn’t been doing well. They all came out to support me on the rail, and now I’ve won a bracelet, so they’re just as excited about this as I am.”

Notably, apart from the WSOP bracelet victory, Liu also recorded twelve other cashes at the 2024 WSOP. 

Wing Po Liu boasts of $1,192,161 in total live earnings, which makes the pro rank 20th on Hong Kong’s All-Time Money List. His best live cash to date has been $246,797, which he earned by taking down the  € 4,750 + 250 Pot Limit Omaha – WSOPE 2023 5K PLO (Bracelet Event #6) event at World Series of Poker Europe held in Rozvadov in November 2023.

Talking about his WSOP earnings, he has an impressive 21 cashes, which amount to a whopping $575,073.

With such an impressive list of achievements and form in recent times, especially the WSOP Wing Po Liu has caught everyone’s eye, making a loud proclamation that he is one of the most promising poker pros to keep an eye on.
