In a thrilling showdown at Event #15: $50k Pot Limit Omaha of the 2024 Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in South Korea, China’s Ding Biao emerged victorious, solidifying his position among the elite despite being one of the new kids on the Super High Roller block. He eventually defeated renowned poker pro Phil Ivey, showcasing his growing prowess and denying the latter his sixth Triton title. This was his first major live title of the year, following several FT finishes.

Biao overcame a star-studded final table, beating the likes of Patrik Antonius, Ole Schemion, Stephen Chidwick and Paul Phua, before grinding down Phil Ivey heads up, to claim his second Triton title. He took $1.1 million, a second seven-figure score of the series. Biao’s recent success in Jeju has been exceptional and this marked his seventh cash and third final table of the series.

Event #15: $50k Pot Limit Omaha was hosted from 17-18 March. A total of 84 challengers entered the tournament, building a $4,200,000 prize pool, which was ultimately shared by the top 14 finishers. The 10-time Triton champion Jason Koon (14th for $76,000) was the first player to finish in the money and he was followed by Dylan Linde, Killian Loeffler, Sam Greenwood, Danny Tang and Kosei Ichinose.

The final table was reached after recent PLO Bounty Quattro champion Nacho Barbero was eliminated in eighth place. Barbero had Ad 10d Ac Ks against the Js As 9h 7d. He three-bet with his aces and then bet pot on the Jc 5h 6c flop. Schemion called and turned the straight when the 8h dropped. Barbero couldn’t improve and had to settle for $152,500 as the eight place finisher.

It was a star-studded final table and saw clashes of titans. Antonius was the first player to be eliminated and it was Ivey who scored the knockout. Later, Biao took out Schemion and Chidwick falling out in sixth and fifth places respectively. The momentum shifted back to Ivey who regained the chip lead with the elimination of Paul Phua in fourth place. Ultimately, it came down to intense heads-up after Jared Bleznick lost out to Ivey who entered heads-up with a strong chip lead over Biao.

However, Biao was able to chip up and snatch the chip lead from Ivey, eventually winning the coveted title. On the final hand, Ivey had Qc Jd 8d 2s, while Biao held Kh Qh 7d 4s. All the chips went in pre-flop and the board ran out 6d 4d 7s 9d 4c, giving Biao the title and trophy.
