There are a few players from Canada who have made their mark in poker, with the first player being the Mount Rushmore of poker, Daniel Negreanu, and the second player being the high-stakes poker pro, Timothy Adams.

Timothy Adams started his live poker journey with low-stakes poker and eventually made his name in high-stakes poker. In this report, we will discuss Timothy Adams’s early life, poker career, and net worth.

Timothy Adams’s Early Life and Introduction to Poker

Adams was born on 4 June 1986 in Burlington, Canada. Timothy Adams got into poker during the “Moneymaker Effect,” beginning his poker career at the age of 18.

He didn’t jump directly into live poker tournaments but focused on refining his skill set by playing online poker.

Adams started his poker journey by playing under the username “Tim0thee” on platforms like PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. And reports suggest he earned around $530,000 on Full Tilt Poker and nearly $2,000,000 on PokerStars.

Timothy Adams’s Live Poker Highlights

Adams played his first live poker event in the USA in May 2007. In which he earned $3,765 for his 3rd place finish in the $300 NLH event. He then returned to Canada, competed in a $500 NLH event, and made $22,177 for his runner-up finish.

Next month in June 2007, Adams played his first-ever WSOP event, which was a $1,500 NLH. He made it into the money for $3,871. He also competed in three other events that year and earned over $50k from them.

Despite a good start, Adams vanished from the live tournament circle for two years from 2008 to 2009. But he returned in 2010 with a massive bankroll to play high-stakes tournaments.  He cashed in three WSOP events that summer, with one event being the $10k NLH Heads-up Championship, where he made a 32nd-place finish for $17,987.

Timothy Adams found success in the 2012 WSOP when he won the inaugural $2,500 buy-in no-limit hold’em four-handed event; he earned his first bracelet and a six-figure prize of $392,476.

The Bracelet winner made another six-figure score in 2013, where he finished 4th in the €100k NLH Super High Roller event at the EPT Monte Carlo for a staggering $636,088 top prize.

After 2013, Adams lowered his tournament volume and only aimed to play high-stakes poker. The next two years were very dry for the poker pro, as he wasn’t able to achieve a six-figure score. Adams’s next six-figure prize came in 2016 when he finished 3rd in the €50k NLH Super High Roller at the EPT Barcelona for another $500k+ score of $676,915.

He came close to scoring his first seven-figure score in 2017 but missed it by just $5k as he earned $995,635 for his 3rd place finish in the HK$800K NLH Super High Roller at the Asia Championship of Poker.

Two years later, in Jeju, Adams took down the HK$2 million NLH Triton Super High Roller event for a staggering seven-figure score of $3,536,550.

This is followed by a second seven-figure score in the £1,050,000 NLH Triton Super High Roller London for $1,704,427.

In 2020, Adams won the debut Super High Roller Bowl Australia’s A$250K NLH event for his third seven-figure sum of $1,446,112. That year, he also took down the $250K Partypoker Super High Roller Bowl Russia event for a $3,600,000 top prize.

Timothy Adams’s biggest ever top prize came in 2023, where he took down the $125k NLH Triton Super High Roller London Main Event for a massive $4,185,000 prize.

The High Stakes poker pro played only five tournaments in 2024 and earned approximately $500k, with one final table finish in the $25k Triton’s GG Million$ Live where he placed 6th for $ 345,000.

Timothy Adams’s net worth is close to $40 million, which he earned from playing both online and live poker.

Adams has cashed over 184 tournaments and earned $38,580,849, positioning himself as the second player on Canada’s all-time money list, with seven-time bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu sitting at the top.

Adams is currently placed 16th in Hendon Mob’s all-time money list, and he is the third poker pro hailing from Canada to be on Hendon Mob’s top 20 list.

Besides his poker prowess, Adams is a hardcore football fan. In 2014, Adams discussed the idea of hosting friendly football tournaments among the poker fraternity, with various players around the world representing their countries. In 2014, he organized the football tournament called “World Cup of Vegas.”

He hinted at a football player who played poker to represent Brazil. “There were talks about Neymar Jr. playing one day,” Timothy Adams said, “but we may have to wait until he is retired.”

In 2024, the World Cup of Vegas completed its 10th anniversary with Germany winning the tournament.
