Spain’s Adrian Mateos Leads GPI Europe Rankings After Stellar WSOP 2024

With the conclusion of the 55th World Series of Poker (WSOP) 2024 in Las Vegas, several players have made history. The series witnessed players putting up some unbelievable scores on the board, thus surpassing all precious records and results. 

Naturally, the Global Poker Index rankings also underwent major changes based on the latest WSOP scores of poker pros. In this article, we will look at the GPI rankings of Europe.

Leading the GPI Europe rankings is Spanish pro Adrian Mateos with 3,964.06 GPI points. With that, he also ranks third on the overall GPI rankings. He is one of Europe’s top poker players and has witnessed a major update in his ranking thanks to his WSOP 2024 outing. His consistent and impressive performances in recent tournaments, especially WSOP have helped him rank at the numero uno spot on GPI rankings for Europe.

The four-time WSOP bracelet winner is known for his strategic acumen and ability to perform under pressure. He has climbed up the European poker rankings, strengthening his reputation as one of the continent’s most elite players. His current dominance on the ranking update highlights his successes in live poker events and his growing influence in the poker world. 

At the recent WSOP 2024 edition, Adrian Mateos recorded a total of six cashes accounting for $250,636 in total earnings from the series. This included two final table finishes and a cash at the coveted Main Event. 

His best cash of the series was $681,554, which he won for his fourth-place finish at No Limit Hold’em – High Roller – 8-Handed (Bracelet Event #39). His next best cash was at the No Limit Hold’em – Super High Roller (Bracelet Event #55) wherein he took the 10th place for $506,757. This is followed by his 5th place finish at the No Limit Hold’em – 6-Handed Championship (Bracelet Event #94), which fetched him a handsome $198,261.

He took home $62,942 from the + 3,000 No Limit Hold’em – Mystery Bounty (Bracelet Event #76) event marking his fourth best cash at the WSOP 2024 series, followed by $45,000 which he scored after fishing the 317th place at the No Limit Hold’em – MAIN EVENT World Championship (Bracelet Event #81).

His least cash was his first cash at the series in No Limit Hold’em – Freezeout (Bracelet Event #34), wherein he pocketed $9,302 for his 48th place finish. 

Adrian Mateos is followed by Stephen Chidwick who flaunts 3,705.82 GPI points. The UK-based player recorded four cashes at WSOP 2024, the best being his 40th-place finish at Pot Limit Omaha – High Roller – 8-Handed (Bracelet Event #73) for $52,722. Stephen Chidwick ranks 7th on the overall GPI rankings. 

Artur Martirosyan follows with 3,685.11 GPI points, ranking 3rd on GPI rankings for Europe and 9th on the overall GPI scoreboard. Out of his for cashes at WSOP 2024, his third place finish at the No Limit Hold’em – Heads-Up Championship (Bracelet Event #6) was his personal best. The Russian player walked away with a payday of $180,000 for his second runner-up finish. 

In fourth place is Eelis Pärssinen with 3,482.11 GPI points. The Finnish player had just two cashes at WSOP 2024, the best being his seventh place finish at Pot Limit Omaha Championship 8-Handed (Bracelet Event #66) for $172,355. Apart from his 4th place on GPI rankings for Europe, Eelis Pärssinen ranks 18th on overall GPI rankings.

Alex Kulev takes the fifth place on the GPI rankings for Europe and 21st place on the overall GPI rankings chart with 3,433.99 GPI points. The Bulgarian recorded two cashes at WSOP 2024 and a bracelet too. The best of his three cashes was obviously the No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed (Event #8), which the Bulgarian player took down for a massive $2,566,000.
