The 15th edition of the popular Poker Dream Main Event has officially concluded with China’s Shaoshuai Li emerging as its newest main event champion. Li, who made a smashing debut by winning the 2024 WPT Cambodia Deepstack High Roller last year, claimed his first major poker title of 2025, securing the coveted Poker Dream trophy and a career-best MYR 420,000 ( $93,275) payout. Li eventually chopped the prize money with Xu Hang, who walked away with a bigger slice of massive MYR 731,200 ($162,385) – his career-best live score. Segarra Lopez Guillem rounded out the podium, taking home an impressive MYR 292,600 ($64,980).

The RM1,800 ($396) buy-in no-limit hold’em Main Event saw an impressive turnout of 1,992 entries over ten starting flights between January 20th to January 24th, with the remaining players battling out on Day 2 on January 25th to compete for the top prize and the coveted main event trophy. The impressive turnout for the tournament comfortably smashed the MYR 4 Million (~$880,000) guarantee, generating a whopping MYR 4,219,700 ($928,334), which was finally shared by the top 224 players.
Several Indians Score Cash Finishes Poker Dream 15 Main Event
Team India is known for their dominant run in Poker Dream 15, with India’s Nishant Sharma being the only three-time Poker Dream Main Event Champion in history. He couldn’t participate in the 15th edition of Poker Dream. However, other Indian players impressed with cash finishes in the main event. They include Hararwala Abbasali Saleem (13th – $9,015), Gagandeep Malik (29th – $3,665), Kurkhepally Mahadeva Somashekar (60th – $2,090), Sanampuri Somasekhar (90th – $1,775), Dembla Harsh (125th – $1,420), and Siddharth Jolly (191st – $1,290).

Li, who kicked off his poker journey in 2024 with a victory at WPT Cambodia Deepstack Mini High Roller, crossed the $130k in live tournament earnings, with his latest big victory. Unfortunately, he missed the chance of scoring a six-figure payout after going for an ICM chop with his fellow countrymen Xu Hang, who finished 2nd to collect a bigger payout of $162,385. Hang is a poker regular who cashed in several World Series of Poker events last year, cementing him as a rising Asian poker star. His recent cash brought his live earnings close to $1 million.

The first Poker Dream series of 2025, Poker Dream 15, took place at the luxurious Genting Highlands from January 16th to 26th. The festival featured an impressive lineup of 57 trophy events and over MYR 8,000,000 guarantee, drawing players from across the globe. China emerged as the dominant force at Poker Dream 15 Malaysia, claiming a remarkable 21 trophies and total winnings of $445,409 (MYR 2,024,586).
