Samuli Sipila is one of the latest winners crowned at the ongoing PGT PLO Series. He emerged victorious in Event #7: $15,100 Pot-Limit Omaha Progressive Bounty, which drew in a total of 74 entrants to create a prize pool of $1,100,000 and paid out the top eleven finishers. The finish pro entered the final table of the event with 47% of the chips in play and quickly dispatched the rest of the field to take home the $159,840 first-place prize plus a whopping $239,000 in bounties.
With three cashes in the series, he is now the clear leader in the 2024 PGT PLO Series Leaderboard race, holding 544 points, far ahead of Dylan Weisman (277 PGT points).
This was a two-day event running inside the PokerGO Studio at ARIA Resort & Casino Las Vegas.
Six-time bracelet winner and PGT PLO Series event # 3 champion Daniel Negreanu was busted in sixth place ($33,300 and $31,000 in bounties) by Sipila to bring day 1 to a close. Sipila entered day 2 with 47% in play. He knocked out every single opponent on his way to clinching the trophy, starting with Sean Winter (5th – $46,620). Bracelet winner Christopher Frank (4th – $63,270) was the second-largest bounty earner of the day with $46,000. Sipila’s pocket aces held against the top pair of four-time bracelet winner Nick Schulman (3rd – $89,910) to get him a 2:1 chip lead into heads-up.
Three-time bracelet winner Jim Collopy started off well, winning a big pot with a full house of Sipila’s nut flush. However, Sipila soon edged ahead and won the title. On the final hand, Sipila had 10h 4h 3c 2s against his opponent’s Qd Jc 8s 6d. The board ran Ah 8c 5h 10d 5d where Sipila won the title. Collopy was busted in second place ($159,840). He also earned $3,000 in bounties.

Jakub Michalak Takes Down the Merit Poker Carmen Series High Roller
In another thrilling event, Poland’s Jakub Michalak emerged victorious in the Merit Poker Carmen Series High Roller, securing $174,500 in top prize money. The Polish pro defeated a field of 145 entries to earn $174,500. He dominated the majority of the final table and had nearly 80% of the chips in play during three-handed action. He quickly finished off Halil Tasyurek in the heads-up play.
“I could, but not in this way. I was running so good it was unbelievable,” he said after his victory.
Day 3 began with 30 players remaining out of a starting field of 145. Just 17 made money with the likes of Simone Andrian, Razvan Belea, Florian Guimond, Maxime Chilaud, and Michel Habib falling early. Daniel Kyosev was eliminated on the bubble after being down to less than one big blind. Day 1 chip leader Dawid Smolka (17th) and Christophe Panetti (16th), Milos Skrbic (15th), Alessandro Pichierri (14th), Traian Stanciu (13th) and Jenya Gavrilovich (12th) all exited before the final table.

Eliminations on the final table were quick. Down to three-handed play, Tasyurek won a race with king-queen to nines to bust Henriques in third place. Finally, it was all over in a flash. Michalak won the trophy, the first-place prize money, and the prestige of besting some of the world’s best players.
