While the 2025 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is grabbing most of the spotlight in Las Vegas, it’s not the only show. There are several other events happening in the sin city, with two of them crowning their champions recently in France’s Samuel Bifarella and American pro Phong Nguyen.
Samuel Bifarella Wins MSPT Venetian Main Event For $141,905
Of the two champions crowned recently in non-WSOP events, the biggest winner was French player Samuel Bifarella, who overcame a large field of 1,171 entries in the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event, becoming the new champion of the event and taking home a career-high score of $141,905. The latest win took his live earning to over $267k, significantly boosting his live resume.
MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event Quick Recap
Running from June 8-12, the MSPT Venetian $1,100 Main Event at the beautiful Venetian Resort in Las Vegas drew an impressive 1,171 entries across three starting flights, comfortably crushing its $1 million guarantee and generating $1,142,896. The top 129 players were paid out, with Poker Dream host Grant Gardner (122nd), India’s Gaurav Sood (119th), Jeremy Becker (71st), Konstantin Held (43rd), Ryan Plant (31st), and Thomas Paul (12th) being some familiar names among them.
The third and final day of the event took place on Thursday and saw only seven players return to battle it out for the title. The day began with Samuel Bifarella holding a massive 13,700,000 stack, nearly double that of Baurzhan Akimov’s 7,660,000, who started second in chips.
Andre Rieder became the first elimination of the day after his A8 lost to pocket fives of Hrachya Ohanya. He was followed by Robert Nemeskeri-Kiss and Brett Bader falling in sixth and fifth places, respectively
Later, Baurzhan Akimov ran his Kc 7c into Ad Jh of Claudiu Burlacu became the next elimination, falling in fourth place for $67,822. Down to three-handed, it took two full levels before Hrachya Ohanyan became the third-place finisher after being flushed out by Burlacu to take home $88,850.
The elimination put Burlacu in contention for the title with Bifarella, who held a slight chip lead at the start of the heads-up. Even after doubling Burlacu, Bifarella was able to regain the chip lead and eventually win the title.
On the final hand, he called a shove from Burlacu who held Ac 6c against Ad Qh of Bifarella. The board ran out Ah 9d 10h 2h 10c, ending Burlacu’s run second place for $131,905 AND giving Bifarella the MSPT Venetian Main Event title and a $141,905 prize.

Phong Nguyen Ships $10K Seniors NLH At 2025 Wynn Summer Classic
The 2025 Wynn Summer Classic is running full steam at the Wynn Poker in Las Vegas. One of the major events to conclude recently on the series’ schedule was the $10,000 Seniors No Limit Hold’em, which drew 100 players and found a winner in Phong Nguyen, eventually defeated Ernest Bush in heads-up play and walked away with the trophy and $186,026.
