Rutger Hennen emerged as the winner of the WPT Prime Amsterdam €1,100 Championship, following in the footsteps of the German Philip Hollederer, who clinched the title last year. The Dutch poker player defeated a field of 1,340, including Maksym Klopotok in the heads-up. Hennen took home the title and €208,095 including a seat to the WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas this December!
At Holland Casino Amsterdam, the remaining 12 players returned for the final day of the WPT Prime Amsterdam €1,100 Main Event. Five of them were from the Netherlands, with Jeffrey Jol leading the way with the third-largest stack. Unfortunately, it was a short day for Sven Stok, who went all-in with As 8h against Rutger Hennen’s Ah Qc. A queen on the board resulted in Sven finishing 12th for €16,580. He was followed by Heskey Selva who was also from the Netherlands.
The next to fall was Max Deveson. Action started with Jeffrey Jol’s opening raise to 175,000 from the cutoff. Deveson then 3-bet to 475,000 with Ac Jh. Metin Talibi reraised all-in from the big blind with 9d 9s, leading Jol to fold. Deveson then went all-in, and Talebi called, resulting in a crucial flip. The board ran Q-6-4-K-Q, securing the victory for the nines and sending the British poker player out in 10th place for €20,853.
Starting the final table, Vasyl Vasylysyhn held the chip lead with 15.6 million chips, followed by Metin Talebi and Jeffrey Jol. Raoul van Wersch was the ninth-place finisher after his JJ failed to hold against Patrik Papanek’s QQ. Denis Karakashi was eliminated next with Ah10c losing to Vasyl Vasylyshyn’s Kh Kc. The next player to fall was Patrik Papanek with his Kd Kh losing to Jeffrey Jol’s Ac Ks.
Six players remained after this, with Metin Talebi being eliminated post-break with 3-3 against Rutger Hennen’s straight. Jeffrey Jol experienced a rollercoaster ride during the second half of the final table. Despite becoming short-stacked, he doubled several times, securing several pay jumps. He eventually finished in fifth place for €57,940, losing his final hand with Ad Jd against Rutger Hennen’s Ac Ks.
A little later, Vasyl Vasylyshyn exited in fourth place (€76,746 ), defeated by Rutger Hennen’s pocket jacks. Robbie Schiffbauer made his mark, finishing third for €102,680. Rutger Hennen then faced Maksym Klopotok in the heads-up play. Although Klopotok initially held the lead, Hennen fought back, shifting momentum in his favour. Klopotok managed to double up his short stack multiple times, staying in the game. However on the final hand of the tournament, Klopotok’s remaining chips went all-in with As 8c, giving Hennen another chance to seal the deal with 7d7h. The board showed 9-10-5-6-9, securing the victory for Hennen in the WPT Prime Amsterdam Main Event for €208,095!
