Rosana Aguiar and Sheila Vanderwoude Emerge as WSOP Champions

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) felts are buzzing with intense action as the world’s biggest poker brand is currently two prestigious events: the WSOP Online and the WSOP Circuit Playground festivals.

2024 WSOP Online on GGPoker

The virtual felts of the GGPoker have been heating up with players competing for prestigious gold bracelets at the ongoing 2024 WSOP Online. Running since August 18, the series has already crowned eight champions, including Malaysia’s William Teoh, Latvia’s Ritvars Cekalins, India’s Tarun Goyal, USA’s Bryn Kenney, and Romania’s Vlad Draie, and USA’s Eric Kindred. One among the most recent winners was Brazil’s Rosana Aguiar who clinched her first-ever WSOP bracelet by winning Event #5: Ladies NLH Championship.

Brazilian player Rosana Aguiar playing under her screen name “RoThorlay_” bested a field of 186 entries in Event #5: Ladies NLH Championship to seize her first bracelet and a payout of $ 16,512. She eventually outlasted Vietnam’s Dinh Khanh Quynh Tran “XiMuiPH” in heads-up. The latter settled for a payout of $ 12,732. Also on the final table was Australia’s Jennifer Cassell aka “dejens” who placed 7th for$ 3,471.

WSOP Online Event#6 $1,500 Monster Stack No-Limit Hold’em

Online player Eric Kindred nicknamed “TiananmenSquare” topped the 1,437 runners in Event #6: Monster Stack No Limit Hold’em to pocket $263,719. Hailing from the USA, Kindred entered the final table near bottom though with a decent 24 bb stack and went on to outlast several bracelet winners like Julio Belluscio “bartodlgente”, Christopher Frank, and Tarun Goyal “Uncapped”. This was the second final table for Goyal who  exited in 9th place, earning $ 32,964 for his second final table finish.

WSOP Online Event#7 $215 Mystery Millions

The $215 Mystery Millions with a $10m guarantee drew 52,452 entries, building a guarantee-busting prize pool of $10,375,005. Vlad Darie from Romania emerged victorious, winning $613,575 and $10,143 in bounties. Darie is a successful live and online pro. This was his first bracelet win but he has over $2.7 millions in live cashes.

Event 8 of the ongoing WSOP Online on GGPoker network drew 623 players, generating a prize pool close to $1.5 million. Finally, the tournament was shipped by the player nicknamed ‘AmassTeRok’ for $219,233.45.

2024 WSOP Circuit Playground: Sheila Vanderwoude Wins Ladies Event

Over to the WSOP live felts, Sheila Vanderwoude made waves at the 2024 WSOP Circuit Playground, emerging victorious in Event #10: $300 Ladies Event of the series.

She overcame a competitive field of 89 entries and eventually bested Brigitte Korak heads-up to take home $6,555 from the  $21,805 total prize pool and her maiden WSOPC ring.

The final table was a rollercoaster ride for Vanderwoude as she moved from chip leader to small stack. However, she never gave up, consistently fighting back and hitting the right cards to outlast her fellow ladies. She entered the head-up after busting Khaly Dang in third place. The latter shoved with Ace-Nine and was called by Vanderwoude with King-Eight. The board ran Kingh-high,ending Dang’s run in third place.

The short heads-up battle between Brigitte Korak and Vanderwoude saw the latter holding 1,225,000 over 1,000,000 held by Korak.  On the final hand, Korak moved all in with As Qc and was called by Vanderwoude with Kh 10c.  The board ran out with two tens, giving the latter trips with tens to take down the pot as well as the title.
