In recent years, poker sites have been adding content creators to their ambassador roster. It’s not a bad thing, but there aren’t many content creators who take poker seriously, they are just there to promote the game. However, some content creators genuinely understand the game, play the game and take it seriously, and Alexandra Botez is one of them.

Alexandra Botez, who is not only a content creator but also a professional chess player, is also an avid poker player and has been playing poker since 2020. In this report, we will discuss Alexandra Botez’s early life, poker career, and personal life.

Who is Alexandra Botez? Early Life and Chess Journey

Alexandra Botez is a chess player and an avid poker player. It’s hard to describe Alexandra Botez’s career in one sentence as she not only plays poker and chess but is also a Twitch streamer and a content creator on YouTube with her sister Andrea Botez.

Born on September 24th, 1995, Alexandra Botez comes from a Romanian-Canadian family. At an early age, both the sisters, Alexandra and Andrea, were very active in sports. Alexandra was introduced to chess at the age of six, and she went on to win her first girl’s National Championship in chess at the age of eight.

In 2015, Alexandra Botez claimed the Woman FIDE Master and won the Woman International Master in 2017, cementing her position as one of the best chess players in the world. Besides her prowess in chess, she is also a chess content creator and commentator on Twitch and YouTube.

Alexandra Botez graduated from Stanford University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations. She was also the president of the Chess Club at Stanford University.

Alexandra Botez Poker Career and Winnings

Much like chess, Alexandra Botez was introduced to poker by her father. Botez’s father used to watch a lot of poker tournaments, and more than that, he loves watching the Kid Poker “Daniel Negreanu,” as both have a Romanian-Canadian family connection.

Alexandra Botez marked her career’s first poker tournament in 2021, when she competed in the $25k World Poker Tour Heads-up Championship Online, where she beat Rumay “Hafu” Wang in the first round, but lost the second round to Sam Greenwood.

Way before her tournament entry in 2021, she used to play friendly online poker games with Streamer and YouTuber Destiny.

In 2022, Alexandra Botez appeared in Hustler Casino Live’s cash game, which featured several poker pros and content creators, including Mr Beast, NINJA, Ludwig, Phil Hellmuth, Tom Dwan, and others. She won over $450,000 and became the most profitable player at that table.

In 2023, Botez took part in PokerStars Caribbean Adventure, which was $3,300 NLH DeepStack, where she finished in 42nd place for $5,200. In that same series, she scored her first title, as she won the PCA $550 Hyper Turbo for $10,815.

Alexandra Botez’s biggest payday came in the 2023 WSOP $10,000 Main Event, where she finished in 1039th place for $17,500. She also competed in two events at 2023 WSOP Paradise Island and cashed over $10k.

In March 2024, Alexandra Botez joined GGPoker’s ambassador roster. GGPoker introduced Alexandra Botez with a heads-up match against Daniel Negreanu. In the GGPoker introduction video, Alexandra Botez revealed that GTO expert Landon Tice and four-time bracelet winner Chance Kornuth are her mentors.

In 2024, Alexandra Botez competed in the WSOP Circuit for $1,100 NLH, where she came 46th and banked $2,218. Although Botez hasn’t scored big, she has a bright future ahead in the game. Fans may see her in the upcoming World Series of Poker Online, hosted by GGPoker.
