Jason “Clozer” Poker, regarded as one of the best poker players in Michigan and the Midwest poker circuit, has unfortunately passed away at 29. The poker community received the news recently and is currently mourning for the poker pro.

He was born on December 21, 1994. Kapoor’s life was full of challenges and unfortunate events. The player left his home at 14 and spent 70 hours a week working at a Dunkin Donuts. He later started his journey as a car seller before getting introduced to poker.

While he was most active in online poker scenes, the player has cashed in 22 live poker events, earning $153,355. At the beginning of 2024, the player competed in the WPT Cambodia Championship $800 NLH Mystery Bounty event, finishing in 2nd place for $33,251. His highest score came in the 2022 MSPT United States Poker Championship Main Event, where he came 3rd for $41,721.

In 2022, Kapoor lost his mother, and in the same year, while competing in the MSPT US Poker Championship Final Day, Kapoor received the news that his friend Ray Malone III died in a car accident. Despite being saddened by the news, Kapoor made it to the final table and finished in 3rd place.

“He dedicated that would be his biggest score to him when he ended that tournament in third place,” poker reporter Liam Gannon said.

Jason Kapoor relocated to Thailand in 2022 and shared a glimpse of his travels on his Instagram page. Several poker players mourned his death. Female poker pro Robbi Jade Lew said, “I wish I could have been there for you, We will miss you dearly, Jason.” Courtney Webb said, “You were such a light and such a kind human. Rest easy, gg buddy.”
