A shocking incident happened to an online poker player. The player posted about the incident on the 2+2 forum. The online user ‘Exodus944’ shared the story and how PartyPoker confiscated his $700k winnings. The player is taking legal action against Entain who owns PartyPoker. The post caught the eye of netizens as it questions the trustability of online Poker sites.

On February 6, 2024, 2+2 forum user ‘Exodus944’ accused partypoker of confiscating his $700k amount of earnings. He won $1 million from grinding on a $100 spins game. The player withdrew $300k from his partypoker account.

He was part of a poker stable and owed a significant amount to them, so he gave the $300k to the stable. In February 2023, partypoker locked his account for violating their T&C, as the player provided a fake document. But they accepted the document before, which raises questions about their practice.

From Winning 1 Million to Confiscation

The player was originally from Romania and later he moved to Ireland, Dublin where he started playing on partypoker. Partypoker asked the player to provide some documents to show if he was in Dublin. The player wasn’t from Dublin, so he asked his roommate to help him. His friend provided him with the electricity bill, with the player’s name in it.

In July 2021, he submitted the documents, and the site accepted it. Later, the player deposited $100k into his partypoker account. The player said that he would have to rethink the document if partypoker rejected it. In October 2022, the player won a $1,000,000 Jackpot from the Spins game. The player took a short break from online poker as he wanted to travel and play live poker.

After partypoker locked his account, he emailed them. He got answers from the site after four months when he learned about fake documents. Entain later gave the player an offer to give him $600k out of $700k, Exodus944 also accepted it but Entain withdrew the offer. He also got to know about players who faced the same problem as him, but all of them cashed out their wins later. The player will take legal action against Entain for wrongfully confiscating his $700k.

Not The First Time For a Poker Company To Confiscate Large Winnings

In 2007, the popular poker site PokerStars faced controversy over disqualifying the winner of the WCOOP main event. According to PokerStars, the tournament was played by the player’s sibling. The player was removed from his title.

In 2011, a Dutch player earned over half a million dollars in the PokerStars Sunday Million event. PokerStars later found out the player was underage at the time of playing, resulting in them seizing his earnings. However, PokerStars gives that money to charitable organizations.

In recent years, Gordon Vayo, an online poker player and 2016 WSOP runner-up, faced consequences of his own actions. He used a VPN to hide his location from the US. The player won $692,000, which PokerStars revoked after his  alleged misuse of VPN.
