Meet Nishant Sharma, a trailblazer in the Asian poker circuit and a huge inspiration for aspiring players. Currently ranked 8th on India’s All-Time Money List, this Mumbai-based pro has established himself as one of the finest poker players in India, clinching over 8 live poker titles and 30 online victories in his incredible journey spanning over eight to nine years.
Hailing from a Marwari family in Rajasthan, Sharma first caught the attention of the poker community in 2017 by clinching victory in Event 10 of the Macau Poker Cup 27. The following year, he etched his name in poker history by finishing 34th in the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event for a career-best $230,475 and becoming the best Indian finisher in the main event that year. This milestone not only brought him recognition back home but also changed the perception of his family and friends about poker. As a result, many of his friends started playing poker after his success in the game.
Since 2018, there has been no looking back for Sharma. He has not only cashed over 25 WSOP events but also has won several prestigious titles, including the DPT Colossus Main Event, and the World Poker Championship High Roller Single Day. In 2023, he narrowly missed out on winning the APT Single Day High Roller, finishing runner-up for $34,500. Recently, he won the Poker Dream Main Event for the third time in a row, becoming the only player in history to achieve this incredible feat and establishing him as a trailblazer in the world of poker.
