“This is a dream come true,” said the proud new MSPT champion after his victory, “My previous best cash before this was $8,700 so I’m feeling on top of the world.” He continued, “I literally flipped a quarter to come here, and I ran it up so I couldn’t be happier.”

2024 MSPT Season 15 Michigan State Poker Championship Quick Recap

The $1,110 buy-in no-limit hold’em paid out the top 309 players all cashing for at least $2,200. Several notables ran deep, including the in-form Angela Jordison, who fell in 10th place for $32,478. MSPTchampion Jordison, who has already won an impressive three titles this year, including the $ 1,110 No Limit Hold’em MSPT Main Event for a career score of $ 161,513, was looking in good shape to win her fourth title of the year. However, it was not to be as her journey ended in 10th place when she shoved her ace-king against pocket nines of Amir Kamari. Her hand was ahead but a nine on the river gave Kamari a set and ended Jordison’s remarkable run.

The final day (Day 2) of this Main Event saw a total of 309 players return to battle it out for the title. Apart from Jordison, several other notables cashed in the $1,110 buy-in, $1,000,000 GTD Main Event, including the former MSPT champion (Danny Sepiol – 13th place for $25,712), and the MSPT Hall of Famers (Aaron Johnson – 23rd place for $16,240 and Patrick Steele – 15th place for $25,712). These players were preceded by the likes of MSPT Hall of Famer Umut Ozturk (132nd for $3,789), Season 14 Michigan Poker State Champion Travis Young (125th place – $3,789), and MSPT Hall of Famer Richard Alsup (120th place – $3,789).

The action on the final day was fast and furious, with players dropping like wildfire. The final table was reached after the elimination of the Phenompoker team pro Angela Jordison falling in 10th place for $3,2478. Nicola DiTrapani held the chip lead at the start of the final table, while Murray sat third in chips.

Shortly after the final table began Rob Wazwaz, who started with a middling stack, fell in three-way all-in. He was followed by Mike Iacovone in eighth place, and Tim Capretta exited in seventh place. They were both eliminated by MSPT Hall of Famer Joshua Reichard, but he was the next player to fall. He ran his pocket nines into pocket queens of Murray to finish sixth for $86,609.

The 15-time WSOP Circuit ring winner was then followed by Dapreesh Scates who exited fifth place ($108,261). He was also eliminated by Murray whose 6-9 bested Scates’ ace-seven.The next to fall was Amir Kamari whose ace-queen unfortunately lost to king-four of David Evans.

Despite scoring the knockout, David Evans fell in third place after his ace-ten lost to king-eight of Murray. This set up the heads-up final between Nicola Ditrapani and Nick Murray. The final two then agreed to a deal, which gave Murray the coveted MSPT trophy along with his first live victory.
