Mirage Casino to begin Liquidation Sale in August

Hard Rock International (HRI) recently announced its plans to cease operations of The Mirage Hotel & Casino. Casino collectors and poker enthusiasts may soon own a piece of the Mirage Casino as the Mirage casino properties are expected to go up for sale after its closing on July 17.

The Seminole Tribe of Florida, owners of Hard Rock International, purchased the Mirage in December 2022 for $1 billion. Initially, they planned to keep the casino open while transitioning it to Hard Rock property. However, plans have changed, and the Mirage is now expected to remain closed until 2027.

Hard Rock has hired Proximity Capital, a Las Vegas-based investment and liquidation firm, to manage the liquidation of the property’s content. The liquidation firm earlier launched a website to promote the sale of furniture and furnishings from the hotel rooms and suites at the Mirage. However, the company recently took down the website.

According to Fox-5 Las Vegas, the liquidators are offering wholesale marketing room packages, ranging from $1,000 to $2,500. These packages include multiple beds, chairs, tables, lighting, curtains, TVs, and more. The liquidators are also providing special financing options for those purchasing multiple-room packages, particularly for hotels and Airbnb owners.

The Sale begins on August 1, with furniture being the first items up for bidding. The Tropicana, which is being demolished to make way for a new stadium for the Oakland Athletics, underwent a similar liquidation process after closing down in April, allowing poker fans to purchase items from the casino.

A Mirage representative mentioned that casino management is still considering a public sale of some items. The Mirage holds a special place in the hearts of many 1990s poker players. The poker room, however, closed in 2020 due to the pandemic and never reopened.
