The Poker Stars 2024 Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Cambodia series has concluded, with Christopher Mateo winning the coveted main event title. The festival saw several Indian players making waves, with Arun Kishore Godiyal leading the charge. He scooped his first-ever APPT Title and PokerStars trophy for his victory in the Bubble Rush Event. Here is a quick look at the three Indian players who made the country proud with their deep finishes and victories.
Arun Kishore Godiyal Wins 2024 APPT Event #7: Bubble Rush
While Nishant Sharma made history at the Poke Dream 13 Malaysia by winning three trophies in a span of six days, including the main event victory for a third time in a row, another Indian Arun Kishore Godiyal was making waves at the 2024 APPT Cambodia. He triumphed in the 2024 APPT Cambodia Event #7: $250 buy-in Bubble Rush event. Godyal took home $2,433 and the coveted PokerStars trophy for his first-ever APPT victory in Cambodia.
The $250 buy-in drew 40 entrants, creating a total prize pool of $8,536. As the field was small, only the top six players left the table with a payday.
He defeated Malaysia’s Sheng Meng Jeremy Wong in the heads-up, and Wong ended up picking the 2nd place prize money of $2,432. China’s Long Chen took third place, earning $2,432 for his deep run.
In addition to his title win, he made a runner-up finish in Event #3: NLH Turbo for $1,872, and also scored a 4th place finish in Event #11: NLH Hyper Turbo for $2,778.

Chakshu Deep Raina’s Two Stellar Final Finishes At APPT Cambodia
Chakshu Deep Rania, who calls Singapore his home, made his impact in WPT Cambodia with two final table finishes earlier this year. Carrying his momentum into APPT Cambodia, he scored two final table finishes at the 2024 APPT Cambodia.
Rania came close to winning his first PokerStars trophy, but couldn’t get past the runner-up position in Event #15: Win The Button Event, cashing $2,342. The event had a buy-in of $400, which created a $9,560 prize pool. France’s Dorian Paul Debals won the event and clinched the first-place prize money along with a PokerStars trophy, by defeating Raina in the duel.
A few days later, Rania again ran deep in Event #16: DeepStack Freezeout, collecting a payday of $1,867 for his fourth place finish. Battling through a 73-entry field, he unfortunately fell a few places shy of the victory. South Korea’s Wooseok Kim secured the victory with his top-notch play for $5,266.
Madhankumar Vijayan’s Podium Finish & More
Among other Indian players, Vijayan cashed in two events, including scoring one final table. Vijayan made a podium finish in the Event #4: $300 Superstack. He navigated a field of 156 entries and ended up in 2nd place to collect $4,172.
His next deep run came in Event #13: Mystery Bounty – $100k GTD, where he competed against a field of 341 players, and made it into the money, finishing in 44th place to take home $600 from the $178,616 prize pool.
Somasekhar Sanampuri Cashes Three Events
Coming off a deep run in the APPT Manila Championship High Roller Turbo last month, Sanampuri made his presence felt by cashing an impressive three tournaments in the series. He first cashed in Event 13: Mystery Bounty – $100,000 GTD, placing 52nd for $600. He then followed up that with a 15th place for $ 768 in Event 19: Megastack. His third and last cash of the series came in Event 35: APPT Turbo – $50,000 GTD where he placed 17th for $ 784.
