The 2024 Super High Roller Series continued its run at the stunning Merit Royal Diamond Hotel & Spa in North Cyprus, crowning its sixth champion in Spanish poker, Adrian Mateos. The four-time bracelet winner topped a star-studded field of 40 entrants in the Super High Roller Series Cyprus Event #6: $25,750 No-Limit Hold’em Mystery Bounty, claiming $162,000 and another $165,000 in bounties for a total of $327,000. This marked the fifth PGT title and third victory of 2024 for the Spain’s All Time Money Leader. Also, it was his fourth cash in the series following a runner-up finish in Event #3.

Despite the victory, the Spanish poker legend was not the biggest as the American poker legend and 11-time WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey, who lost in three-way all-in to Mateos, won the biggest prize of $413,000 thanks to the $300,000 he collected in bounties.

40-Entry Tournament Concludes in Three-Way All-In

The final table featured several big names including Canada’s Sorel Mizzi, who was first player to finish in the money, busting in sixth place ($32,000). He was followed by his fellow Canadian Sam Greenwood who busted in fifth place ($42,000). The WPT champion Seth Davies from the US exited in fourth place for $59,000, setting up the three-handed play in the PokerGO Tour event in Cyprus.

At the start of the three-handed play, the 11-time bracelet winner Ivey had a significant lead over Mateos, and Quan Zhou, the winner of Event #2 in this series. However, the Spanish pro managed to double into the lead, recording his third podium finish in the ongoing Super High Roller series via six events.

Epic Final Hand That Secured Mateos The Victory

Shortly after, the tournament ended in three-way all-in when China’s Quan Zhou shoved the button for over 15 big blinds with Ax 6x, and Mateos reshoved from the small blind with Ad 10d. Phil Ivey called all-in from the big blind for a little more than what Zhou held, and turned over his Kx 4x. Ivey took the lead on the flop with the second pair, but Mateos had a flush draw. A third diamond  fell on the turn, ending things for Zhou and Ivey, both exiting in third and second places, respectively.

Currently, the Spanish poker legend Mateos is close to the $50 million mark in lifetime live tournament cashes and is enjoying an incredible run in this series with an impressive four cashes in six events so far.
