Following Spain’s Adrian Mateos and the USA’s Martin Zamani, who were named the Global Poker Index (GPI) Players of the Month for July and August 2024, respectively, another USA pro, Jim Collopy, has secured the title of GPI Player of the Month for September.

Jim Collopy, who was recently crowned as the Poker Masters champion, delivered stellar performances during the month of September. He cashed an impressive seven times across two major poker series, collecting a massive $830,000 in total during the month of September.

Collopy’s blockbuster performances during the month included three cashes at EPT Barcelona, starting with a third-place finish for $231,148 in the 25K High Roller. Two more cashes in Spain followed, including another third-place for $74,938 in the € 9,700 + 500 No Limit Hold’em event.

Collopy then participated in the 2024 PGT Poker Masters events in Las Vegas where he scored an impressive four final table finishes, starting with a 6th place finish for $47,000 in $ 10,000 + 100 No Limit Hold’em (Event #3), and a 3rd-place finish for $ 105,300 in the  $ 10,000 + 100 No Limit Hold’em (Event #4). He followed those scores with two runner-up finishes, first finishing 2nd for $ 142,500 in the $ 10,000 + 100 No Limit Hold’em (Event #5) and then scoring a runner-up finish for $226,800 in the $ 15,000 + 100 No Limit Hold’em (Event #6).

Although he did not win a title, his run of two runner-up finishes combined with two more final table scores earned him the Poker Masters Purple Jacket. With three third-place and two second-place finishes during the month, he  amassed a total of 1,216.02 points, surpassing his close competitors David Coleman and France’s Thomas Eychenne.

Mateos Tops 2024 POY Race & Collopy Moves To #8

Collopy’s blockbuster performances in September not only earned him the GPI player of the month title but also moved him to #8 on the GPI’s 2024 Player of the Year leaderboard. Spain’s Adrian Mateos currently tops the race, with Jesse Lonis still topping the GPI’s overall index. Collopy retains his lead on Columbia’s all-time money list and is close to a $10M mark in his lifetime live tournament earnings.
