The Global Poker Index (GPI) ranking is a comprehensive leaderboard that provides valuable insights into the latest achievements and performances of top poker players across the world. The GPI rankings highlight the skills, consistency, and impact that poker players have within the global poker community.
While the GPI global rankings show data on worldwide players, the ranking also has an India-exclusive ranking, which lists the Indian players according to their performances. Over the past month, the GPI rankings for India have majorly been unchanged except for a few switches among the ranks and a few changes in GPI points.
Indian pro Ankit Ahuja still dominates the GPI India rankings with 3,110.29 points. Most recently, the two-time POY India Winner was seen grinding at PokerStars European Poker Tour in Monte Carlo. Here he cashed at two events. First at Event #1 FPS Main Event wherein he finished 23rd of 2,096 entries and pocketed €8,720. He later finished 108th out of 832 entries for €11,500 at Event #18 EPT Main Event.
Following second is India’s Triton Poker champion Santosh Suvarna with 2,689.66 points. Suvarna was last seen at the Triton Poker series in Jeju back in March 2024, wherein he cashed in two events. One was a 20th-place finish at Event #2 No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed wherein he cashed $48,500. He later finished 15th at Event #9 No Limit Hold’em – 8-Handed for $267,750.
Notably, Ankit Ahuja and Santosh Suvarna’s spots on the GPI rankings have remained unchanged from the past month. However, there is a change seen in the third and fourth spots. Two of India’s WSOP bracelet winners, Abhinav Iyer and Kartik Ved, have swapped their spots from the past months. Kartik Ved who was in the third spot has slipped down to the fourth while Abinav Iyer has climbed a spot higher to take the third spot on the podium.
Abhinav’s 53rd-place finish from 2,096 entries at the Poker Dream 9 – Malaysia Main Event for RM27,900 helped him earn 109.98 points to rank higher than Ved, who has had no cashes in the last couple of months. Thus Abhinav Iyer takes the third spot with 2,056.75 points, and Kartik Ved has settled at the fourth spot with 1,986.30 points.
Amit Kaushik continues to hold the fifth place just like the previous month with 1,705.01 GPI points to his credit. The other players among the top 10 include Zarvan Tumboli at the sixth spot with 1,619.22 points, Nipun Java at the seventh place with 1,482.18 points, Vishal Ojha at the eighth spot with 1,401.64 points, Nishant Sharma at the ninth place with 1,380.92 points, and finally Kunal Patni at the 10th place with 1,327.09 GPI points.
