After an intense heads-up showdown, Philippines player Florencio Campomanes emerged victorious in the APPT Open event at the 2024 APPT Manila 15, walking away with the top prize of $66,324, a package to the 2024 APPT Championship, and the APPT Trophy.
APPT Open event attracted 326 entries across three starting flights, generating a guaranteed prize pool of $360,000, which was split among the top 47 finishers. Out of 326, only 64 players returned to Day 2, hoping to get into the money. Day 2 ended with 9 players remaining at the table, beginning the final table action on the final day 3.
The event attracted several poker pros from Europe and Asia. Still, they fell short of reaching the final table, including India’s Dhaval Mudgal (36th – $2,136), Netherlands’ Tom Henricus Verbruggen (35th – $2,136), UK’s Alex Ward (37th – $2,136), and Australia’s Danielle Noja (46th – $1,846).
From India, veteran poker pro and the first-ever WPT Vietnam Main Event champion Dhaval Mudgal was the only player to cash. He finished 36th in the tournament, earning an impressive ₱ 125,000 for his deep run.

Florencio “Flo” Campomanes kicked off the final table by winning the opening hand. Flo showed his dominance at the table by knocking out 3 players. Campomanes eliminated Jason Magbanua (9th – $7,624), Benjamin Ebarle (7th – $10,770), and the runner-up Anastasios Pavlou.
On par with Campomanes, final table chip leader Anastasios Pavlou cleared half of the table, sending out Benjamin Mangaliman (8th – $9,060), Edgar Asehan (6th – $13,500), John Costiniano (4th – $22,735) and Seonghun Jeong (3rd – $29,570). Heading into the heads-up play, Pavlou held a massive chip lead against Campomanes.
The heads-up play turns into an intense back-and-forth battle with Campomanes trying to take the chip lead. Ultimately, Campomanes took the chip lead, leaving Pavlou short-stacked. But on the next hand, Pavlou closed the chip gap with both players having equal chips.
In the final hand of the tournament, Pavlou with K♠︎J♦ opens front the button, and Campomanes 3-bets from the BB with A♦8♦. Pavlou instantly 4-bets, and Campomanes moved all in. The board card came out 2♠︎7♠︎2♣︎Q♦2♦, and Campomanes won this hand with his Ace high kicker.
Anastasios Pavlou had to satisfy himself with the runner-up prize of $41,365 and a package to the 2024 APPT Championship worth $3,600.
