Meet Mohit Bohra, a poker prodigy from Ahmedabad, Gujarat. With his rapid learning, strategic brilliance and impressive achievements in the game, he has carved a stellar place in India’s poker landscape. Bohra, who graduated from Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS), initially worked at a startup and then handled his family business before immersing himself in studying poker and finally taking it up professionally.
Mohit Bohra discovered the game during his college days and played it with friends initially. However, it was during the COVID-19 that he started taking the game seriously and studying it deeply. During this period, he juggled both business and poker, handling business in daytime and playing the game during the nights. With valuable guidance from PokerStars India Ambassador Siddharth Karia and a few solid scores in the first couple of months, he was able to build a good poker bankroll, which actually pushed him to take the game more seriously.
Driven by his early success, Mohit Bohra spoke to his father in 2021 and requested one year’s time for him to fully focus on poker. Since then, this Ahmedabad’s golden boy has never looked back. He has built a solid poker resume filled with numerous marquee online victories and several significant live cashes, including a victory in the APPT Cambodia Hyper Turbo event and a 4th-place finish at the DPT Main Event for $15,715.
Mohit Bohra’s strategic mindset and his relentless drive coupled with his attention to diet and exercise has been key to his rapid rise in the Indian poker circuit. Bohra recently made big headlines at the National Poker Series (NPS) 2025, claiming an impressive 5 medals. However, his career-defining moment last month with a victory at the National Poker Champion (NPC) Showdown in Goa, where he outplayed 12 state champions to claim a massive ₹1 Crore and become India’s first National Poker Champion. Most recently, he stormed into the spotlight for winning The MoneyMaker for the coveted bracelet and a hefty ₹15 Lac in top prize.
