EPT Barcelona: Ottomar Ladva Secures Third EPT Title

Chess Grand Master Ottomar Ladva claimed his third European Poker Tour title in the PokerStars 2024 EPT Barcelona €25,000 No-Limit Hold’em II for a six-figure score of €439,400.

The €25,000 NLH Event attracted 60 players, surpassing the first edition of the tournament, which attracted 46 entries. 60 players battled for over 13 hours until Ottomar Ladva claimed the title. The 60 entrants build up a prize pool of €1,440,600 shared among the top 8 players.

Several poker pros ran deep but failed to reach the ITM, including Patrik Antonius, Nick Petrangelo, and Mike Watson. Here is a short recap of the final table of €25,000 NLH II.

Event #44: €25,000 NLH II Final Table Recap and Standings 

9 players from different countries formed the final table. Nick Petrangelo was eliminated in the money bubble. He exited in 9th place for nothing. Stoyan Madanzhiev soon followed Petrangelo to the rail in 8th place, banking €57,600.

Artsiom Lasouski soon sent Michel Molennar out in 7th place (€72,000), after Molennar’s Q-J failed to beat Lasouki’s pocket fives Short stacked Biao Ding moved the last of his stack to the middle with A-J, and Lasouski called the all-in with A-2. Lasouski hit two pairs, eliminating Ding in 6th place for €93,600.

As the short-stacked players were gone, the game became tight, and the next elimination came after an hour. Sam Greenwood busted out in 5th place, taking €122,500 for his deep run. The game soon turned into a three-handed play after the elimination of Mathew Frankland in 4th place (€158,500). 

James Collopy held the chip lead going into the three-handed play, but Ottomar Ladva soon reversed the role, sending Collopy to the danger zone. Ladva took the remaining chips from Collopy by knocking him out in 3rd place (€208,900). 

The heads-up play was short, as Ladva quickly knocked out Lasouski, taking the first-place prize and his third EPT title. Artsiom Lasouski had to satisfy himself with the runner-up finish, collecting €288,100.
