2025 PGT PLO Event #6: $10k PLO Quick Recap
The $10k buy-in pot-limit Omaha event of 2025 PGT PLO series drew a competitive field of 99 players for a total prize pool of $990,000.This massive prize pool was later split among the top 15 players, which included seven-time WSOP bracelet winner Daniel Negreanu (15th), James Collopy (14th), Sean Winter (10th), and several other well-known poker pros.
The second and final day of the event began with six players. Sean Rafael led the final six, followed by Sam Soverel in the second and Smith as mid stack. However, Sam Soverel’s run ended soon after he went against the chip leader in a blind vs. blind confrontation. Soverel hit a straight on the board only to be out-drawn by the king-flush of Rafael. Sam Soverel picked $49,500 for his 6th place finish.
After the elimination, Rafael went on to hold a major chunk of chips in play. That’s when Dylan Smith began his top-notch play, dominating everyone and eventually emerging as the winner. Smith first knocked out the 2023 PGT PLO Champion Lautaro Guerra in 5th place with a $64,350 payday.
Smith then sent Setfan Christopher to the rail in 4th place for $89,100, setting up the three-handed action. During the three-handed play, Smith took the lead from Rafael, and it was only a matter of time before he was eventually crowned as the champion. Tyler Brown soon found his way to the rail as Smith went on to crack his kings after flopping a pair of aces. Brown for his impressive run picked a six-figure score of $113,850.
Heads-Up For Title
The heads-up lasted for only two hands. Rafael was short-stacked and put his remaining stack into the middle of the table with top pair of queens and a flush draw, and was called by Smith’s overpair of kings with a king-high flush draw. Smith hit the flush and ended the tournament run of Rafael in 2nd place. Sean Rafael collected a hefty six-figure prize of $163,350.
Dylan Smith went on to earn his biggest live score this year, $252,450, and shipped his first PokerGo Title. His overall best score remains $662,200, which this Florida resident earned for winning the 2024 World Poker Tour Seminole Rock’n’Roll Poker Open main event last year.
