Diogo Coelho is quickly becoming one of Portugal’s most prominent names in the world of professional poker. With nearly $2.4 million in live tournament earnings and two European Poker Tour (EPT) titles to his name, Coelho has cemented his place on the global poker stage.

Early Life and Introduction to Poker

Originally from Portugal, Diogo Coelho discovered poker in his early twenties. Like many new generation poker players, he began his journey grinding online tournaments, gradually building both skill and bankroll. For years, he was a regular on the virtual felt, gaining valuable experience before making the shift to live events.

Since turning his focus to the live circuit in 2021, Coelho has been a consistent performer. The 29-year-old has already built an impressive resume in both online and live formats. He has racked up over 44 live cashes to date, making his career earnings all the more remarkable.

Career Highlights and Tournament Success

Coelho’s first recorded tournament cash came during the 2020 World Series of Poker Online, where he finished in the money in a $840 Bounty event, earning $1,829. He followed that up with a 91st-place finish at the WPT Online World Championship, banking $8,602.

In 2021, he made further progress online, finishing 17th in the WSOP Online $400 NLH Colossus for $14,597. By year’s end, Coelho secured his first live tournament cash at the Solverde Poker Season Main Event in Oporto, Portugal, and capped it off with a podium finish in the €500 NLH Main Event, taking home $22,541.

His breakout year came in 2023, with a deep run in the PCA $10,000 Main Event, netting $33,800. He soon claimed his first major title, winning the €10,300 EPT Paris High Roller for $857,037, his largest career cash and a defining moment that brought him widespread recognition.

In 2024, Coelho’s momentum continued at the World Series of Poker, where he narrowly missed the final table in the $10,000 Main Event. Finishing in 10th place, Coelho walked away with a staggering $800,000, a bittersweet but career-defining result.

Second EPT Title and Recent Success

Just a year later, Coelho captured his second EPT title, winning the EPT Cyprus $2,200 Eureka High Roller for $357,048. His recent results include two cashes at EPT Monte Carlo, where he found the money in both the PokerStars Open Main Event and the PokerStars Open High Roller, earning over $15,000 combined.

As the 2025 World Series of Poker approaches, all eyes will be on Diogo Coelho to see if he can replicate — or even surpass — his 2024 success. With a proven track record, and the confidence of two EPT titles, he stands as one of Europe’s most exciting players to watch.
