Demosthenes Kiriopoulos emerged victorious in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit Playground Event #13: $3,300 High Roller for his first-ever Circuit Ring and a payout of CAD $140,000. This marked his fourth career title and first victory of 2024.
The Toronto player now has more than $2.6 million in total live earnings and has a circuit ring along with a WPT title. Kiriopoulos started the final day in the middle of the pack, but won a few crucial pots to become one of the biggest stacks. From there he reached the ITM stage and then outlasted the final table to win the coveted title.
198 players gathered inside the Playground Poker Club for the 11th event of 15 circuit events, surpassing the CAD $500,000 guarantee and building CAD $594,000 in the final prize pool. Several players ran deep but failed to reach the money, including bracelet winners Chanracy Khun, Sebastien, Jimmy Setna, and Sebastien Aube. Only the top 30 finishers took a share from the $594,000 prize pool.
Here is a final table recap of the 2024 WSOP Circuit Playground Event #13: $3,300 High Roller.
Final Table Recap and Standings
Gaetano Di Maria led the final table, while Demosthenes Kiriopoulos held the fourth place in chip lead.
Youssef Hmama, with just 10 BBs, moved all-in with pocket kings, and David Quang called it with his Ad-Qd. The board couldn’t help Hmama’s cowboys, sending him to the rail in 9th place for $13,800.
Alexander Wong with As-Qd went all-in, and Tyler Warken with Ad-Qc and Gaetano Di Maria with 8c-9h called the all-in. The board ran out 2s-Qs-Jh-9s-10d, giving Warken a K-high straight, knocking out Wong in 8th for $17,150.
Gaetano Di Maria soon followed Wong to the rail for 7th place, after going all-in against Demosthenes Kiriopoulos Ac-Jc. Di Maria held Ad-9c, and the board care couldn’t help the inferior hand of Maria. Gaetano Di Maria collected $20,000.
Although Tyler Warken scored a double-up through the elimination, his stack didn’t last longer. After the elimination of Gaetano Di Maria, Warken lost eighty percent of his stack, leaving him with just 15 BBs.
Soon enough, Warken moved all in for his tournament life. He held Ad-Qs and was called by Samuel Roussy-Majeau, who held Ac-Kh. Both the players flopped an ace on the flop, but Majeau’s AK out kicked Warken’s AQ. Tyler Warken bowed out in 6th place for $23,900.
The five-handed play lasted over two hours until Jonathan Newman busted out in 5th and banked $28,000. One hour later, Kiriopoulos knocked out David Quang in 4th place ($37,000), starting off the three-handed play.
Kiriopoulos soon sent Manish Rail to the rail in 3rd place for $60,000. Going into the heads-up play, Samuel Roussy-Majeau held a chip lead against the eventual winner.
Just before the first hand of the heads-up, both players agreed to an ICM Chop, which split the remaining money and confirmed a bigger payout.
After the deal, both players moved all in blind. Demosthenes Kiriopoulos held Ac-4c against Samuel Roussy-Majeau’s 3d-9s. Kiriopoulos doubled up and reversed the chip lead role.
On the following hand, Roussy-Majeau moved all-in with Kc-4s, and Kiriopoulos called the all-in with 5c-3s. The board came out 10d-7s-6s-8d-3h. And Kiriopoulos emerged victorious with a pair of three. Samuel Roussy-Majeau collected $98,000 for his runner-up place.
