Australian female poker pro and bracelet winner Jackie Glazier, who has more $1.4 million in live earnings to her name, has filed a lawsuit against Australian Survivor: Heroes v Villains season production company Endemol Shine Australia. Glazier filed the lawsuit as she sustained an injury on her right shoulder while filming an episode of Season 10 in 2023.
The Australian Poker Pro competed in Season 10 of Australian Survivor: Heroes V. Villains. Australian Survivor is a popular adventure reality show where the participants take part in various dangerous challenges to take rewards.
Glazier sustained the injury on the first episode challenge, where participants had to jump over a large rotating cube, and players who failed to do that would directly fall into a pool of mud below. Unfortunately, Glazier and another contestant, George Mladenov, were injured after falling into the pit.
Glazier was evacuated from the competition after her injury, and she was later diagnosed with a broken collarbone and ligament damage. But this later developed into thoracic outlet syndrome, for which she had restricted her movement in her right shoulder and arm. Glazier claimed that the injury has had a long-term impact on her health and professional life. Due to the injury, she could not do a range of household duties.
Law firm Arnold Thomas & Becker filed the lawsuit on behalf of Glazier. They allege that the muddy pit contained only 30 centimeters of water rather than 1m to 1.5m deep, making it unsafe for lading. As reported by DailymailUK, the production company Endemol Shine Australia paid Glazier $25,000 to participate in the show.
This is not the first time Australian Survivor production company Endemol Shine has faced legal action from contestants. In 2020, Ross Clarke-Jones with Arnold Thomas & Becker’s law firm sued the production company. However, they settled the case out of court before it reached the Supreme Court.
