Following an incredible year, Bin Weng has won the World Poker Tour Player of the Year title. On the back of his power-packed performances throughout the year, the Chinese-American poker earned more than $6.6 million. This included three seven-figure scores and back-to-back WPT final table finishes.
Weng finished the year with 2,175 POY points to top the WPT POY leaderboard, the majority of which came from televised WPT back-to-back final table finishes. Weng kicked off his WPT campaign by winning the 2023 WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown where he earned $1.1 million and 1,400 points. The very next day, he returned to the WPT Choctaw final table where he placed fourth for $143,000 and 550 POY points.
“Winning a WPT title was one of my dreams in poker. Accomplishing that goal was an incredible feeling,” said Weng. “Adding the WPT Player of the Year title is a bonus I couldn’t have ever imagined.”
Following him on the WPT POY leaderboard were Dan Sepiol with 1,600 and Calvin Anderson with equal points (1,600). Sepiol won the WPT World Championship at the end of the WPT Season, while Anderson won the WPT Prime Championship at the same series. With the POY win, Weng joins previous POY winners, who include Anthony Zinno, Daniel Negreanu, Chad Eveslage, and Brian Altman.

Weng put up fantastic results in 2023, registering an impressive six victories. Outside of the leaderboard, Weng took down the $10,500 WPT EveryOne for One Drop for $2,227,054 in July. He ended the year by winning the WPT World Championship High Roller for $958,279 in December.
However, his achievements were not just limited to WPT as he shined almost everywhere. He kicked off 2023 in style with a significant victory in the Borgata’s $5,300 “The Return” for $1,000,000, which was followed by a WSOP Circuit ring in Las Vegas for $227,344. October saw him winning a $1,600 Mystery Bounty event at Wynn Las Vegas for $159,078 plus bounties. Weng performed everywhere he went in 2023 and this makes him a fvourite to win the Global Poker Index Player of the Year title.
Up next, WPT returns for its 22nd season in January with WPT Cambodia in Southeast Asia. The WPT Prime Tour will also open its doors with WPT Prime Aix-en-Provence from January 26-February 5.
