American poker pro Alex Foxen has finally added a Triton Main Event title to his name. Foxen emerged victorious in the $100k no-limit hold’em triton main event at the ongoing 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Paradise. For his remarkable victory, he banked a staggering $3,850,000 and his second triton title, along with his third WSOP bracelet. Foxen defeated another WSOP regular Joao Vieria in the heads-up, denying him his fourth bracelet.
The victory has now brought Foxen’s earnings past $42 million, pushing him up on the Hendon Mob’s all-time money list. Just a month before, Foxen had claimed his maiden Triton title at the Triton Poker SHRS Monte Carlo Event #5: $53k NLH. He had also run deep in other events, which included a cash finish in the $130k Main Event and a sixth-place finish in the $100k PLO Main Event. Below is a recap of his victory.
2024 WSOP Paradise Event #7: $100,000 Triton Main Event Final Table Recap
The $100k triton main event drew 182 entrants, generating a total prize pool of $18,200,000. The top 31 finishers took home a piece from the substantial prize pool, with the top 5 players each earning seven-figure scores.
Day 3 kicked off with 15 players, all vying for the massive top prize and the coveted bracelet. Foxen started the final day in the middle of the pack and also entered the final table with a middle stack. While Foxen made it to the final table, several notables fell short of making it into the final 9. These included Mario Mosboeck (14th), Mikita Bodyakovsky (12th), and Stephen Chidwick (11th).
Seth Davies was the first player to exit the final table. Davies entered the final table as the short stack and won a few pots to stay alive. But his run came to an end as he went all in against Fedor Holz. Davies’s ace jack was superior to the jack-six of Holz, but the board brought a six, sending Davies out in 9th place for $393,000. Bracelet winner Dimitar Danchev’s ace-king then lost against the pocket sevens of Samuel Mullur. Danchev collected $475,000 for his 8th-place finish.
Samuel Mullur couldn’t stay at the table any longer, as his ace-king ran into the pocket jacks of Foxen. Foxen flopped a set, scoring his first final table knockout. Mullur added $650,500 to his poker resume for a 7th-place finish. David Coleman followed Mullur to the rail in 6th place for a career-best payday of $890,000.
Despite starting the final table as the chip leader, Ossi Ketola lost his stack and was out in 5th place, adding $1,171,200 to his poker resume. Alexander Zubov followed him in 4th place, setting up the three-handed play. Despite a strong performance, Fedor Holz finished third, falling short of his third career bracelet. In a pre-flop battle against Foxen, Holz called for his tournament life with ace-five against the king-eight of Foxen. Unfortunately, Foxen tabled two pairs to Holz’s one pair. He collected $1,830,000, pushing his earnings past $47 million.
Foxen entered the heads-up with almost a 3:1 chip advantage against Joao Vieria. Vieria couldn’t do much in the heads-up. And was forced all in on the final hand with queen-three. Foxen called, revealing his ace-king. The dry board gave Foxen the victory with his ace-king. Vieria was denied his fourth bracelet but ended up collecting a career-best $2,590,000 payout.
