Abhishek Goindi, a renowned poker coach, player, and co-founder of PokerBootCamp India, has added a new feather to his cap by winning the 2024 DeepStack Championship Event #66: $1,100 NLH UltimateStack at The Venetian Resort in Las Vegas. This victory, which comes after an impressive five cashes at the WSOP 2024, marks Goindi’s first live title and best live score of the year. Goindi overcame a star-studded field of 571 entries and bested Andrew Rodgers in the heads-up, taking home an impressive $92,264 (approximately INR 77 Lakh), a DeepStack Championship silver coin, and the coveted trophy.
A former DPT High Roller champion, Abhishek Goindi now ranks 32nd on the India All-Time Money List, with his live earnings soaring to $439,330 after his latest victory. Goindi’s first live cash was at the Indian Poker Championship (IPC) in Goa in 2010, where he placed 6th in a No Limit Hold’em event, earning $2,579. Since then, he has won several many titles and made deep runs in various prestigious live events.
His best live cash to date is $136,244, which he earned in 2012 for a second-place finish in the HK$10,120 + 880 No Limit Hold’em – Red Dragon Event at the Macau Poker Cup. Today, Goindi is one of India’s top poker players and coaches, boasting over 6,000 followers on Instagram.
DeepStack Championship Event #66 $1,100 NLH UltimateStack Quick Recap
The DCPS 2024 Event #66, held from July 19 to July 22, was part of the larger DeepStack Championship series scheduled from May 20 to July 31, 2024, featuring a massive $14 million in guaranteed tournament prize pools. The UltimateStack event featured a buy-in of $1,100 and drew 571 entries across three starting flights, surpassing the $500,000 guarantee with a total prize pool of $548,160. Only 73 returned for Day 2, with Goindi holding a respectable 488,000 stack.
Entering Day 2 with a solid stack, Abhishek Goindi navigated through a field of 73 returning players. His strategic prowess and deep understanding of the game were on full display as he steadily built his stack throughout the day to reach the final table and become one of the top contenders for the title.
Final Table Action
The final table of the event was set with nine players, each vying for the top prize of $92,264. Abhishek Goindi started the final table with the largest stack of 4,700,000 chips. He quickly extended his lead by doubling up through Felipe Ketzer, who started the table second in chips. Goindi’s pocket kings held strong against Ketzer’s ace-jack, boosting his stack to 12,275,000 chips.
Continuing his momentum, Goindi eliminated Javier Zarco in fifth place with pocket nines against Zarco’s pocket eights on a king-high board.
Next, Felipe Ketzer knocked out Ben Palmer in fourth place. Ketzer’s king-four suited hit a flush on the turn, overcoming Palmer’s ace-two. Down to three-handed play, Andrew Rodgers dominated, first doubling up through Goindi and then eliminating Ketzer in third place to enter heads-up against Goindi.
The heads-up battle began with Goindi holding 13,425,000 over Andrew Rodgers’ 9,425,000 stack. Utilizing his experience and skills, Goindi quickly finished off the match. The final hand saw Rodgers move all in for roughly 2,600,000 with Q♠5♠. Goindi called with Q♦9♦. The board ran out 7♣9♠K♣6♠3♣, eliminating Rodgers in second place for $66,182 and securing Goindi the coveted title and trophy.
